Anyone else tired of comic book movies???

This reminds me of the guy that gave his penis a name because he didn't want a stranger making all of his decisions.

And I'd argue that the plot, script and cast were a lot better in The Avengers, and that I could think of dozens of films that can beat Godfather in every category  Its all opinion.

And that would be objectively false. It's fine if you find the Avengers more enjoyable (I do too), but it's not the better film.
Is there really an objective scale to judge the quality of a movie, TV show, book, ect. Isn't it pretty much all just subjective?
And if anybody wants to bring up awards, those are given out by a group with a subjective opinion.

There was a time I would've been in line opening night to any and all comic book movies, but these days the marketing has to be stellar, or my interest has to be piqued to even bother going.

So either, yes, I'm tired of comic book movies . . . or maybe I'm getting older and my interests have evolved?

As to the OP and Topic, it is not so much that I am tired of comic book movies, but I can't help thinking about what it means to the process of scriptwriting and original ideas. Isn't anyone pursuing fresh topics and new directions, or is it easier (read, $$$) to screenwrite an adaptation to something that already exists? I am not saying we should never re-make or adapt, but it seems like many releases these days are nu- or re- or live-action of a cartoon or vice versa.

Below is a list of movies, just from 2013. Every single one is a remake/comic book movie.

My point, again, is, nothing original? I guess it wouldn't sell. And that is the real point.

A Good Day to Die Hard
Oz: The Great and Powerful
GI Joe: Retaliation
Carrie
Jurassic Park 3D
Evil Dead
Scary Movie 5
Iron Man 3
Star Trek Into the Darkness
Fast 6
The Hangover 3
Man of Steel
World War Z
Kick Ass 2
Lone Ranger
Independence Day 3D
Grown Ups 2
The Wolverine
Smurfs 2
300 Rise of an Empire
Red 2
Robocop
Percy Jackson: Sea Monsters
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Star Wars Episode II & III
Thor The Dark World
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Bad Santa 2
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

We only stay alive to see new stuff.

The epidemic lack of originality has clotted to a point that we can all look downstream into time to see when we should have given up relative to when the world gave up.

Hmmm...you always make me think more deeply, my Friend. Yet, I cannot help but wonder if the time we look downstream represents the time we gave up on the World, or if that was the time The World gave up on us.

6 of One, really...

Think it's too late...???

I tend to look forward more to comic book movies that offer a spin to the concept, not just because of the characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy - superhero space comedy
Ant-Man - superhero heist movie
Captain America: Winter Soldier - superhero political conspiracy

So with that said, I tend to be less enamored with their sequels or straightforward hero movies. Iron Man 2 & 3, Thor 2, Avengers 2 were too much like their predecessors. I fear the same for Batman v Superman, since Man of Steel bored me.

I *was* looking forward to Suicide Squad since it's about a supervillain team, but every development I read about keeps bringing down my excitement. My enthusiasm started at 8/10, now it's probably like 3/10.

Yeah, normally I'd be on your side, but kirk's post went beyond subjective opinions to just plain ridiculous. The Avengers has a better plot than the Godfather? The Avengers doesn't even have a plot.

:wtf: You're not being serious...right?
Stop Loki's invading alien army.
To do so, reinstate defunct "Avenger Initiative"(from IM1 mention)

Is it a complicated plot, no. It's clearly the plot: Stop Alien Invasion
Which is the same plot as:
Independence Day
Men in Black
War of the Worlds
and many more action, popcorn successful summer films.

I think it was pretty obvious that I wasn't making a literal statement. The Avengers had a barebones excuse plot just to serve as justification for the Avengers to get together and punch some bad guys. Sure, it was a good idea to write a simple plot and push it out of the way to allow more time for the characters to interact, but the same could be said for Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach. Neither deserves to be called a good plot for knowing to get out of the way.

I love the new Marvel movies, they're doing it right; Age of Ultron didn't leave me wanting more, but Guardians of the Galaxy, Antman, and the previews for Deadpool were fantastic!
I have a hard time watching the X-Men, Spiderman, and Superman movies. The Nolan Batman movies are ok, geeze, lighten it up a little...

Deadpool is part of Fox's X-Men universe, not the Marvel Studio's MCU.

Pitty, because Deadpool's "two guys and Girl" thing going on with Thanos and Death is pretty fricking hilarious.

I was forbidden comics as a kid so the MCU represents a kind of recaptured childhood to me.

I don't care if they're "not as good as the comics", they are [mostly] good enough. Unlike much of the drek Hollywood is putting out, I have FUN going to see them and hope they continue.

I am happy to live in this golden age of Marvel films and will miss 'the good ole days' when/if they get here.

I completely agree with everything The Keeper has said. This the golden age of Marvel films, and we should appreciate them while they're here.

I also agree that these movies are by no means perfect. But I'm still enjoying the heck out of each and every one of them!

I remember, for a time, my parents tried to forbid me from watching/reading science fiction. (That didn't work out so well for them.)

Hear hear, +1, Amen, and Bi-La Kaifa!:techman:

Comics gave my parents something they could take away from me, when I was bad.:p

Both my parents were readers. They didn't care what genre the books I read were. Though they did think my reading the Encyclopedia for fun was weird.
