Dark Matter, SyFy's new space show, premieres June 12th

Love this show so far, for all its cliches it avoids alot.

Biggest complaints why the planets?

With bugdets to small for anything other than just another canadian foreset to be created why the flipping planets.

This is just so tired and dull.

We finally get a show in space, lets F-ing stay there.

Why the ftl?

Why there's no need for it, if the show is based on traveling from space stations etc, what the need.

Keep the ressurection arc going!

This is the best part if they loose this aspect I think the show will fail, it's such a great idea for so many reasons.

Good guys with hearts of coal!

It really trumps the Firefly like type deal, where they are rebels, or other kinds of "bad guys" with hearts of gold. I like that these people all have their darker aspects that are just straight up evil.

What does it mean to be a person?

This is a fundamental part of the shows strength what does it mean to be a person if not a collection of ones actions and memories.

This is such a strong concept to diverge from this I think looses the shows stroggest aspects.

Anyways I'm semi annoyed with the stargate talk.

I feel this show is far more BSG, firefly, with ironic bits of the matrix( the blue pill )

Description for tonight's episode from TV Guide. Like all the rest this is simply titled Episode Five.
TV Guide said:
The crew are hired by their handler to salvage a seemingly deserted space freighter, a relcaim op that appears to be straightforward until deadlu cargo is uncovered and they are forced to fight for their lives.
I'm very curious about this" handler". THey mention them very casually in the description, but I don't think we've seen or heard about a "handler" before this.

I am glad they are continuing to team up One and Three. As I said before they make an entertaining team.

Space cannibals? seriously? I was hoping the teeth bites were caused by rats

That twist ending made it so worth it.

And I believe they were very clearly space well you know.

This show is now one of my favorites.

It's like each episode builds from the last, answering one proposed question and raising others.

It's a real shame this show isn't getting more attention.

I'm willing to put to put it up there with firefly.

This show is growing on me. I still prefer Killjoys but I've gone from being indifferent about this show to looking forward to the next ep. I think it's gotten better every week. So
..since we know little about these people was she always able to heal fast which helped her defeat the virus. Or has the virus done what was originally intended and made her immortal?

I took it as more evidence that these guys are some kind of clones of the originals. Maybe a new, experimental type of clone with heightened regenerative abilities, explaining why they don't break down after three days.

This is the second time in five episodes that they've done what was essentially a bottle show without guest stars (aside from Hewlett briefly), focusing mainly on the interplay among the core cast. That's actually working pretty well so far (even if the whole rage-zombie virus thing was deeply cliched), but it does seem to suggest they don't have a lot of money to work with. And the other spaceship looked a little too much like the inside of an industrial building or something.

Well I like how the audience is getting all caught up in cliche's yet the plot doesn't.

Oh no Zombies, someone got bit, oh wait wha it doesn't work?

I guess us group of renegades is gonna stick it to the man and do the right thing. Oh wait were the bad guys? Were just gonna bow down to the other man?

I"m the good guy among all these badies, oh wait the real me is pure evil.

Someone killed my preteen boyfriend, oh wait I'm the one with the gun, whoops.

Oh the shades of gray got the noble guy by the balls lets see what happens, oh wait yeah the good guy doesn't care making his blackmale worthless.

Also I don't completely believe the real 1 is the real one. He might be the clone, judging by his face.

I feel like the show has the metric right start from the bottom, and work your way up.

Instead of trying to make everything awesome in the pilot and quickly defusing as the show goes along.

It was amusing that Three declined the sexual advance from Two because he was still worried about catching the virus.

They're all mutants! Mutant clones, with healing powers! :rommie:

I enjoyed this episode as well. Each builds on the previous, layering new mysteries on top on mysteries. Though I was a bit disappointed with the resolution. Since the Android gained control over the freighter's system, couldn't they deactivate life support to kill any surviving zombies, and then go back to scavenge? They're in desperate need of supplies, materials, food. Any canned foods (if they still use cans in the future :) ) may have been safe. I would have remote piloted the ship away from the area, and then began salvaging whatever I could.

And they still could've gotten paid-simply lie and say that the ship was more heavily damaged than they were led to believe, with 2 crew members injured after boarding, and ship exploding after initiating the FTL drive for it's return voyage.

Once again, they're no better off after doing a job, than they were before. I'm liking that.

I was actually wondering if maybe he declined her offer out of consideration for One's feelings. Of course he'd never admit it if he had.

Given the risk of viral infection, I think destroying the ship was a reasonable precaution.

I dunno... Hewlett's character didn't seem like the kind of nice guy who'd pay them for making a good effort. If he didn't get results, he probably wouldn't pay them, no matter what excuse they offered.

Actually, they're much worse off.

That job wasn't just a way to pay for fuel (which, by the way, I love is a factor on this show), it was also a sort of peace offering with the corporation that was basically protecting them politically and criminally.

So now they're out a large amount of fuel, likely burned their last chance for redemption with that particular corporation, and they've almost definitely pissed off their handler and ruined his reputation even more than they already have.

They're not all clones with healing powers. The pilot got burned two episodes back and had to go see a doctor.

A superhuman immune system, or an immune system tailored to attack that specific virus, is a completely different function from how fast your flesh knits back together.

Dear Dark Matter,

THANK YOU for giving me Rodney, thank you thank you thank you and if you could PLEASE make him and his inhaler a permanent character I will personally watch each episode on one million ratings rated tv's to up your chance of success.

Glad to have gotten the space zombies ep out of the way so early in. Maybe we could knock the inevitable boxing ep on the head this season as well so season 2 will be blissfully free of both these little treasures.

Keep up the good work! And remember, MORE HEWLETT!!

love, teacake

If IMDB is to be believed he is in ep6 and 12.
I'm not sure what ratings a show has to get on space/syfy to survive. Can anyone tell me if it's got a chance of a 2nd season?
