Mad Max: Fury Road

As long as the majority of it is done for real, the 'spine' of the chase if you will, then I won't object to a little trickery here and there, it certainly didn't hurt the sandstorm sequence in Fury Road, there was so much other real stunts in it, that the CGI complements it instead of dominating it, like most films are guilty of.

There's no reason why any sequel couldn't be in a slightly different setting to the original, for a portion of the film at least. A deserted city sounds just the ticket.

Some stuff set in as city, or at least more than what we got at the end of Beyond Thunderdome, could be really cool. Especially with the even crazier world built up in Fury Road.

If a sequel is made, and it's starting to look possible, then another extended chase through the desert won't cut it in my view. Fury Road took that as far as it could go without resorting to too much FX surely?

^ A sequel has been confirmed, to be called Wasteland, IIRC. I think Miller plans to make a trilogy with Hardy.

Hey guys, went and saw this at the matinee and it's a lot of fun. One thing that's really bugging me is did they say they could go for 160 days on those motorcycles? I don't get how they could possibly have the fuel or supplies to do so and it seems like WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY off. Did I mishear this or am interpreting it wrong?

I think the idea was that they had enough fuel and supplies yeah. I didn't really question if it was possible, since the movie was so entertaining.

Their whole life was based on riding the bikes around, I figured they were modified to hold more gas and a bikes are more fuel efficient than cars. Some get around 80 miles per gallon.

Hitting 40 didn't seem so bad, but I'm feeling it at 44. Long story short, her being 40 don't bother me none. Maybe cuz I'm long in the tooth myself I don't really think she looks it.

That wasn't a 'Feminist angle', it was a 'Humanist angle'. For it to be a macho fantasy, Max would have had to end up with one or more of them. The closest we got to that was one of the women cradling a manipulated soldier like a child, giving him the first (Non-sexual) tenderness he'd received in his life.

I didn't see that as five hot women being protected by a macho man, I saw it as five slaves being delivered to freedom.

Also the women were far from helpless, they even used themselves as shields knowing the bad guys would refuse to harm them.

I would hope the sequel focuses on a completely different location. It seems more in the spirit of Max for him to keep wandering out there on his own.
