You forgot one Vacation movie from your list: Christmas Vacation 2 (2003, TV movie). But that's probably the worst movie of the series so far.

I chose Christmas Vacation, but it only beats out Vacation by a nose.

Ed Helms was a better choice than any of those guys to play Rusty in this upcoming film. This one looks like it's actually going to be good.

I don't really care for Ed Helms style of comedy. He often comes across as being too pretentious and smug about how intelligent he thinks he actually is, as opposed to his characters just being pretentious and smug asshats.

I also don't really get a Rusty vibe from him at all. Say what you will about the character, but he was actually pretty smart and charismatic, so following in his dad's footsteps as a bumbling, oblivious father which I'm guessing he'll become since they are actually going with Ed Helms, just doesn't seem to fit. None of his incarnations had dark hair either, so there's that small detail, too.

Fair enough. He is a draw for movie tickets right now though. Any ideas who you would cast in his place?

Regarding the hair: sometimes people's hair becomes darker with age, so that is not unheard of.

Heck, I could see someone like Seth Green or even something off the cuff like Damien Lewis (he's actually pretty funny) in the role.

I'm not feeling the Damien Lewis idea, but I agree that Seth Green would make a really good adult Rusty. He is certainly funny enough to carry the film.

No, none of the ones I can think of had pitch black hair. At most, they had light brown hair. That's hardly dark. Though to be fair, I have the Christmas Vacations blocked out of my memory (and no idea why others love them), so the one in those might have for all I know.

I'd be curious to see where they're going with this. I see they mention taking the family to Wally World, and in this case, I hope it's not a simple retread. If they include memories of his original trip, then no problem.

But wasn't Wally World all rundown and dilapidated when they got there? Why would Rusty bring the family back to what was a big disappointment? I think I remember him being fairly disappointed. Unless he hears it's back and under new management.

I could be wrong, but wasn't the only issue that it was closed for repairs?
