Star Trek 3 news/rumours/casting thread

Re: Star Trek 3 news/rumours thread

Who could you see playing McCoy's ex-wife? Not going to lie. That is the most fascinating bit in this rumor to me. Probably looking for someone in late 40s, early 50s. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a blank on actresses of that ilk.

I'm thinking Connie Britton, Brooke Shields, or if we are horrifically unlucky - Denise Richards.

Well that sounds interesting though I don't get where they are taking these info from?

More female characters is great but I'm a bit concerned that we already have so many characters that adding even more could be a problem.
I'm intrigued by the possibility of seeing Bones ex but it's the less believable rumor for me, tbh. I don't see how she could fit here..

Re: Star Trek 3 news/rumours thread

Justin Lin handled the bloated cast of the F&F series quite well, so I am not worried.

Most ensemble films will focus on a few mains, and give screen time to the minor characters when needed. Look at the Oceans 11 franchise. That was an excellent example of how to use an ensemble cast.

this is a little too old. those ladies are above 50. I was thinking an ex wife of bones will be someone like kate Hudson or reese witherspoon.

Connie Britton would be perfect actually.

It's too bad that this female captain can't be the captain of the "lost" NX-02 Columbia.

I was already stoked about Star Trek 3, but if Bryan "I'm the one who knocks" Cranston is being talked to, then July 2016 can't get here soon enough! I also agree that Jessica Chastain would make a good Starfleet captain. Two names that popped into my head for McCoy's ex-wife are his Dredd co-star Lena Headey, or perhaps Reese Witherspoon (I picture Bones, being a southern gentleman, also went for a southern lady to marry)

McCoy's ex-wife

This. Karl Urban absolutely nails the Bones role and he is the most underused character with the most potential in these movies. Breaking open his past is something I would love to see.

Cranston would be amazing too.

I hope Shatner and Nimoy do show up. It's the 50th anniversary and I think it's the best time to give those actors a moment to shine.

Helen Mirren or Dame Judy for President!

Sigourney or Joan Allen for Ship's Captain?

Samantha Bond for Mrs. Bones?
