Gotham - Season 1

Outside of Falcone and he probably should be younger at that, I'm not sure the show needs to show us younger versions of Batman's rogue of villains.

I agree that it seems like they're trying to jam as many rogues in as they can for the sake of it, but I think it depends on the age thing.

Like I said up-thread, thematically, Harvey works best as a contemporary and BFF to Bruce. That doesn't work when he's 10-15 years older.

They were right to make Selina the same age for obvious reasons. Anyone else though, I don't think it matters much one way or the other.

Anybody else notice when the "GOTHAM" title appeared, there was a tiny, lit, green question mark on one of the buildings in the background, center screen?

^I think Gotham started out poorly, but it's found its voice in the past few weeks.

I think it started with Episode 6. We got a Bullock episode (who needs to be featured more, not just as a punching bag for Jim Gordon) and everything else since has just fit into place. It's been a very impressive run, and yeah I'm glad I'm back watching Gotham because it's having a great first season so far.

Is it a question-mark or a "Q" for "Queen Industries," something we've seen teased at before during the cityscape establishing shots.

Finally caught up with my DVR episodes and I agree that it certainly seems like the show has found more of its footing and seems to have evened out the tonal issues. I really think we could do without child/proto versions of so many of Batman's future rogues. And I don't think the guy playing Harvey Dent is doing it for me but I agree with the poster above that Dent works better as a contemporary to Bruce Wayne. Hell, I'd also argue that for The Riddler.

I actually find the relationship between Selina and Bruce kind of sweet to watch but also odd considering the turmoils and opposite ends of the law Batman and Catwoman end up on. (Though Catwoman is usually much more on the line than being a straight-up villain, bad guy, or even an anti-hero.)

Bullock and Alfred have both really grown on me, the relationship between Alfred and Bruce has grown nicely.

Be interesting to see where the next arc with Arkham goes.

I don't see why the Riddler can't be older, since he's more of an intellectual adversary than a physical one.

Is the Riddler intellectual?

He asks complex difficult questions that he knows the answers to.

Eddie is fun, but I need to see more of his failed nerd love with Kris Kringle. :)

My wife and I finally sat down to watch the fall finale last night, and wow, did we like it. We both kept commenting on how badass Alfred is. We both love this version of Alfred.

I also really like the direction this show has taken with Bruce. At the beginning of the show it seemed like he'd only have a small part to play in the series, but as the series has progressed he has become more and more integral to the show. It really looks like they're going to show us how all the major players in the Bat-Universe become who they are. If Gotham manages to stay on the air for a while I think we'll be in for a treat

I'm having to watch this during the re-broadcast because NOBODY on the BBS bothered to tell me that John Pertwee, Jr. was in the show.

I caught the fall finale first (I'll get you, alpinemaps!), but now I'm going in order each week. The thing about the Waynes not allowing Alfred to send Bruce to any kind of counselor really bugs me. Has Alfred explained why they would do such an irresponsible thing to both Bruce and Alfred?

I'm not a fan of police procedural type shows, and overall the show's boring me. But I stick around to watch Bruce and Alfred's relationship grow. During my lifelong Batman obsession, it's one thing that I've always wanted to learn more about.

I have to say that is probably the best part of the show. I am really enjoying it.

Hey, hey, hey, it's The Swede!

And here I thought I'd say something that I never thought I'd say--"Leslie Thompkins is hot"--then I found out it was the wooden chick from Firefly and her acting hadn't improved in all these years. Looks real good in short hair, though....

Well we got a bit of everything there and I pretty much liked all of it. The Electrocutioner was a bit obvious but the mob stuff was dead on terrific. I liked that Maroni kept Penguin in check and wasnt oblivious to all his actions. Arkham was pretty creepy all around as were the inmates.

I must say, I never would've expected the same actress to play both Black Canary and Leslie Thompkins. And Cheetah, once, in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. And the voice of Dr. Wells's computer Gideon on The Flash. Morena Baccarin gets around in the DC multiverse.

I'm not pleased by the return of the stilted, unnatural dialogue style that characterized the early episodes of the series. Many of Leslie's lines were awkwardly or pretentiously phrased.

But I was really impressed by Drew Powell, who plays Butch Gilzean. He gave a really rich, subtle performance as Butch wrestled with his loyalties to Fish and his old friend. It's the first time the character has come off as sympathetic.

And it was nice to see Moonlighting's Allyce Beasley as Nurse Dorothy. It's been a long time.

You know that her personal life is ####ed somehow to end up practising in a run down Asylum if she is a very good doctor?

Alcohol or gambling are the first things that comes to mind.

Cat used to be afraid of Ivy, now she's protective of her like a strafe?

As soon as Ivy found out that this is the house of the man that murdered her father, I am surprised that she didn't pee in all his shoes.

Prostitution. Definitely. I have photographs.
