Discuss and rate the season's hour-long finale. That should be Master's Bait. I think I got confused with Ingloriousl Basterds, and failed to put either. And now can't be arsed creating a whole new thread to fix it.

Clara claims to be the Doctor in the opening five, and had top billing in the credits, above Capaldi?!?

Cried like a baby for most of the episode.

Overall the 2 parter was "Good" and there were plent of moments to smile and to gasp at and some to really annoy you like "KILLING Osgood" after it was so clear she would of been such a cool companion even for just 1 or 2 trips. It was nice to see the Doctor salute his old friend though it made me think Amy & Rory were probably Cyberman too during all of this and I loved the Doctor saying how cool it would be to be a Queen Female Doctor nod.

Not happy with the lack of explanation of how "Missy" came out of the Time Lock though glad she was lying about Galifrey, we need a more epic story line for its return. Not sure if we will see Clara again but the ending post credits was very

I really enjoyed it. And a certain 'return' near the end brought a tear to my eye.

First thought: Kate's new improved UNIT really is shit. The only one out of the whole lot of them who wasn't completely inept was the Brigadier. And he's dead. Were those guards standing behind the Mistress having a nap?

I agree on the guards. How does Missy get from where the two guards were watching her to Osgood without being shot? Worse part of the episode.

Osgood wasn't much better. She knew who Missy was and that they were a master manipulator and hypnotist with a history of escaping easily from captivity. Why be so stupid as to go over there in the first place?

Come to that, why work in the cell anyway? Was there really nowhere else on the plane to put a PC?

Why was no one watching the security cameras of their vital and dangerous prisoner?

Why even get the President on a plane when the sky is full of Evil Clouds anyway?

This lot made Mike Yates look efficient.

Right, well, that was... um, yeah, good. Couple of niggles and queries (e.g. if Seb was an AI how come he went with the same visual effect?), but otherwise nice. Cybermen even more Iron Man ish, and more zombie like. Wasn't an original bone in its body, TBH, but it was still great.



Very visually impressive. Weird epilogue scenes though. And a hearty "fuck off" to Santa just on general principles (especially since we know Nine was Santa - red bicycle when Rose was eleven)

I also wonder if they aimed to schedule this for Remembrance Weekend deliberately. And I always said Danny was great...

Yep, that is a potential get-out. Been hoping for a bit (well, since November) that we'll sometime get an in-joke line confirming that a lot of apparently human people are actually disguised Zygons living peaceably among us...

I felt like a fool when I realised this must have been specifically timed. Old soldiers remembered, the fallen fighting to save the living, magnificent!

I wonder if the Clara/doctor teaser/titles was just to make certain fans explode

Here's hoping it was Zygon Osgood, here's also hoping that isn't the last we've seen of Missy (although if it is the Master's denouement there's a certain poetic symbolism that it was the Brig who put her down)

Yes the love conquers old ending was a tad cheesy, and Moffat really likes his graveyards doesn't he but on the whole the good outweighed the bad by a large margin. Danny was great, and the moment I realised who the Cyberman who saved Kate was was a lump in the throat moment to say the least. Glad she survived because Kate Stewart is very good as well.

I guess if I had one problem it's Capaldi, at times it seems like he fades into the background a little, which is odd when he can be such a forceful presence and he's such a good actor. He's still probably my second favourite modern Doctor, I just keep waiting for him to go up a gear sometimes. Maybe that's just me.

His and Clara's goodbye was great though, both lying to each other. Guessing that won't be the last time we see her though.

Glad Missy was lying about Galifrey, and that teaser for Christmas. Oh my that made me laugh out loud.

Seriously though what does Moffat have against Belgium?

My hope for Osgood:

Remember that perfect peace treaty between the Zygons and Earth? I've decided there was a clause about cultural exchange. Zygon Osgood's Zygon double has been working with UNIT as part of this exchange, and it is she who Missy toasted. Meanwhile, the real Osgood is alive and well on a Zygon base somewhere.

At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. ETA: I see while I was typing this, several others came to a similar conclusion.

Overall not a bad end to the season, although the pieces of the puzzle leading up to it really needed a rewrite (I felt the same way about Moffat's previous season). And it really didn't need to be the Master at all; Missy could have been a completely original character with virtually no changes to the plot and it would have worked just as well (although I did like the double lying at the end). However, given the direction part 1 seemed to be heading in I am not too disappointed overall.

I'm really bored of the "The Master is insane" trope now, I wish they had left that behind with John Simm. Glad it was the Brig that took the shot in the end though, for all the talk about The Doctor being "dark", striking the killing blow really wouldn't have been him. Having said that, it would have been nice to see him take the device and then refuse to carry out Clara's demand on principle.

And the Master's "plan" does not bear any close scrutiny. At all.

BTW, was an explanation ever given of how The Master escaped Gallifrey after that showdown with Timothy Dalton? If so I must have blinked and missed it.

I didn't enjoy it at all. The whole narrative felt disjointed somehow, as if it were just a series of loosely connected vignettes. I thought it lacked energy and a sense of purpose.

Great story: Yes, Great Cyberman story: yes, Great Master story: No.

Loved this, gave it 5/5, one of the best finales so far. But Missy really got on my nerves on this one, mainly her Scottish accent grated on me a bit as it's so screechy but her whole character on a whole went downhill quite a bit. No explanation as to how she got away from Galifrey, lack of character and just really annoying. When she flew into the graveyard with that Marry Poppins umbrella was when I realised how much I hate her and want to see her regenerate into someone else lol. Plus the story didn't really need her, she didn't do much. They could have just used anybody really. After this, I'm even more sure I pray there will never be a female doctor, at least not under Moffat.

But apart from that is was a marvellous episode. Some great visuals with the cybermen, I can see this episode being really memorable and one that the children of today will talk about in the future when reminiscing about the show. Kinda controversial but all the best Doctor Who stories are. Also some great emotion in this, I too felt a little emotional when I realised that that Cyberman was the Brigadier. When the Doctor finds out that Missy lied to him about Galifrey and him hitting the TARDIS I found very deep too, liked it a lot. Plus the way Clara and the Doctor was also very tragic, loved that. Unique!

On a whole though this series is going where I want the show to go, I really feel this is one of the strongest series yet. After the episode I heard my dad saying "Peter Capaldi's the best doctor ever" like a child, made me giggle lol. And he was a devout David Tennant fan with me. Capaldi's certainly fighting his way into my magic top three doctors now, I can see him becoming my favourite by the end of his era, if his next series are as good of course.

Eh, like the last episode, I didn't really care for it. The only parts about this episode I liked were the interactions between The Doctor and The Master. I particularly liked the bit about The Doctor rubbing it in The Master's face that he became the ruler of Earth and didn't even want it.

Kate is always a joy, too, and I'm glad they didn't actually kill her off.

While I found it rather morbid to bring The Brigadier back in such a manner, it is fitting. That being said, The Master has survived incineration before, so I doubt we've seen the last of her.

Seriously though what does Moffat have against Belgium?

I was wondering the same thing and I currently live in Belgium.

Actually, because of that, I kind of see where he's coming from.

Nick Frost as Santa should be a lot of fun.

The whole Danny thing left me cold, but I was devastated about Osgood though Who being Who and the Zygon thing leads me to think she'll turn up again, and an interview with the Actress in Doctor Who Extra also hints in that direction as well. I want her as the next companion SO much.
