Which Potential Guest Star Would Have Killed A ST Episode?

Walter Koenig as the navigator... oh wait.

Andy Griffith as Lokai and Don Knotts as Bele.

Burt Ward as Lokai and Adam West as Bele.

William Frawley as Lokai and Dezi Arnez as Bele.

I could do this all day.

Larry Storch as Lokai and Forrest Tucker as Bele.

Ok, I'll stop now.

He could've substantially improved on Schmitter for the DAY OF THE DARK teaser.

I can picture Rodney tossing one-liners and doing the collar tug just before being sizzled.

"I'm tellin' ya, I got no respect ... my parents would have to tie a piece of rokeg blood pie to my neck, so at least the targ would play with me ... my wife talks so much, I'm envious of the peace and quiet Harry Mudd has marooned with 500 Stella androids ... my kid told me that if his pet sehlat was as ugly as me, he'd shave his butt and teach him to walk backwards ... Spock told me that there was no such thing as a Vulcan Death Grip, but that he'd make an exception in my case ... working down in the pergium mines, a horta keeps trying to hump my leg ... "

Yeah, I guessed as much. Some folks just seem to be pulling names out of a hat where you want to be obscure but not too obscure. Here's one, ZaSu Pitts. :guffaw:
First of all, Zasu died three years before Trek hit the airwaves, so it could never have happened.

Second, she could be a brilliant comic actress. In her youth she stole every scene she's in in What Happened to Jones, just with her body language.

I know Liberace parodied himself in Batman, but in ST....sorry I just can't see him in any episode.:guffaw:
Trelane.

You know, when I was just a kid, there was a time when I thought Trelance was Liberace. Really.

And I could see Wally Cox on TOS, in the right role. He was good in the second Kolchak movie back in the seventies.

And speaking of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, I read recently that Dawn Wells auditioned for the part of Robert Lincoln in "Assignment: Earth," while Russell Johson tried out for the part of Marvick in "Is There in Truth No Beauty?"

I could see either of those working.

I certainly see why someone would say Liberace for Trelane, but I always thought of him more as Napoleon than anyone else.

Interesting...could it be that they didn't get the parts because they were typecast? That would be a laugh, considering the show they were auditioning for...!

Dawn Wells would have been fantastic as Roberta. Her talent was never fully showcased on Gilligan's Island, but you can get a sense of what kind of actor she was in the episodes where she got something good to do. Like in the "Dr. Jekyll" dream sequence when she played Eliza Doolittle, she nailed the accent and the character. She really belonged in the movies. In a tear-jerker she would have ripped your heart out.

Teri Garr was great as Roberta, but I can certainly see Wells in the part. I'm sure she would have done a fine job, too.

Davy Jones as Chekov's twin brother, scratch that ... that would have actually been cool. But then he brings along his Russian buddies ... the other Monkees speaking with terrible Russian accents.

They could have had the Monkees be the tribunal in Court Martial.

Or the Beatles

Ringo Starr as Admiral Komack.
