The Flash - Season 1

Glad to hear it. It's the only new fall show I'm still watching, and I'm hoping it sticks around quite awhile.

Is he going to watch the TV movie of Annie where Victor played Daddy Warbucks so that he can learn how Vic can barely sing?

What were their options?

Robbie stands there in Firestorm makeup switching between Ronnie and Martin as he calls himself an "Knuckle dragging idiot", then to "take a chill pill old dude" appearing to be having a fully schizophrenic breakdown.

(Why did I make Martin a bully? It was Jason who was mean to Ronnie.)

Or Robbie stands there talking to a free floating severed head of a force ghost, which in real life is just a tennis ball hanging from a string.

Ronnie Raymond, engineer? Thats a tough one to handle but works to explain his presence at the event. Loving all the references in this one.

It's funny how they're dragging in characters from all over the DCU: Stagg and Java from METAMORPHO, Ronnie and Multiplex from FIRESTORM, and was that supposed be The Mist from STARMAN?

Oh yeah...should Detective West at least have some issues about STAR Labs running a secret illegal prison?

Ronnie and Multiplex from FIRESTORM
Not to mention Illerkay Ostfray.

Multiplex...what's his power again? Charging steak dinner prices for popcorn and soda?

Good questions. Atmosphere seems to be provided for.

If he still needs food and water, then he still needs to deal with the waste products. And by implication, so do Wells and company.

Good one. I'm glad they addressed the metahuman prison issue rather than just continuing to kill off the bad guys. And I liked the climactic fight (and flight). That was some solid superhero action right there.

I do wish they'd be more consistent about Barry's powers. At one moment he's processing so fast that he sees everyone frozen around him, yet moments later he's just standing there and letting the bad guy punch him. I guess it could be that he can only sustain bullet-time mode for so long before he tires, but it's still uneven.

I love how the set design of the Central City Police Station -- the Art Deco styling and typeface, the prominent wall mural -- evokes the design sensibilities of the '90 Flash series. I think that's got to be deliberate.

But yeah, there were a ton of comics nods here too, so many that it got distracting. Like Barry saying he didn't want a museum devoted to his exploits. Or Caitlin saying that Ronnie (Firestorm) and she (Killer Frost???) were "fire and ice." I'm surprised they didn't have Cisco say he got a bad Vibe about something.

Go back further. Golden Age character created by Gardner Fox.

Starman's Mist is far more interesting and could easily be part of a very large story.

But the producers are looking for small throw away characters for small throw away stories while the rest of the lore is being built around these freak of the week stories.

It's all right, Caitlin. Ronnie isn't dead. He's Firestorm, the nuclear man.

Caitlin reminds me a lot of Jemma Simmons.
