Had to vote no. While it does look more functional than DS9, it kinda is an eyesore.
As is? No. With a few tweaks, you could have a real contender though. Add some windows on the station hull, extend the docking arms out, and slap some DS9 style docking pylons on it and you'll get a nice station.
It's pretty cool looking, in an ugly Cardassian sort of way, but I wouldn't want it to replace DS9. Maybe Empok Nor.
Maybe, it's the Cardassian design style, but it has a sort of run down look to it. So if they had pushed the idea more that DS9 was an old run down station that was barely operational, it could have worked. Luckily O'Brien was the kind of engineer who could turn rocks into replicators and whipped Terok Nor into shape with noting but a tricoder, a hyperspanner, and a couple trainees.
Uggh that thing is an eyesore LOL.
I voted no.
While that does look more industrial than what we got (DS9 looks more functional to what it became in Feddie hands than its function before), it's ugly, in a bad way. DS9 is ugly in a good way
I think if the intent is for it to be a run-down alien space station that has seen better days, it works perfectly. I voted yes. It kinda has character to its design the same way the Millennium Falcon has, IMO.
That being said, it's probably not a place that I'd want to visit, much less stay at.
That does look more like an ore processing station, so it's the more realistic design. But it also looks ugly as hell.
I think it says something about the Cardassians that they made even their ore processing station elegant.
^I think it says something about the Cardassians that they put a shopping mall and casino in the middle of their ore processing station.
I like that they don't drink their Kanar alone in the dark.
^Not that threre's anything wrong with that.
This station is even uglier in space:
Looks like a Klingon frisbee.
For a while in Season 7 while he was still Weyoun's errand boy, I'm pretty sure Damar drank Kanar in the dark every night.
And in the light, and everywhere else.
Maybe they put an ore processing station in the basement of their space mall.
I actually thought his thread was about the new Deep Space 9 station from the novels; the cover featuring Doug Drexler and Andrew Probert's new station design was just released a few days ago:
It's not terrible, but the original DS9 station is immense.
Makes the thing this thread is about look like a diamond, doesn't it?
