    New STO ship design.

    Doesn't look familiar.

    Not one bit.

Edit: Parody. Check my Anhur-Class. :P

Agree with your reasoing there, the variety of uniforms is cool, especially with respects to practicality, while still maintaining a coherent look :techman:

TREK's answer to the Millenium Falcon? Already done: it's called Sisko's Defiant. The only thing Sisko's ship (seemingly) can't do that Han Solo's ship could is land on a planet. And maybe the Defiant can do that, too. ;)

And it actually does have a cloaking device ;)

Oh, the Defiant isn't Trek's answer to the Millenium Falcon.

    It's Treks' answer to everything.

Any forward, bottom, and aft views? Any plans to create an M.S.D. for this "Asskicker-Class" or the vessel this was created from?

If I create further plans it'd be for the Anhur-Class, seeing as the Asskicker is a joke ship.

Yes! Are the nacelles up or down?

One of the more elegant of the arrow-head ships. Great that you had the forwaqrd section of the secondary hull widen towards the front. You might even go for different saucer designs to see how they fit.

They're up-ish. The pylons go out to the side, because I felt the inwards-slanted nacelles (an homage to the Phoenix) would be akward with the pylons up or down.

I was thinking of maybe mounting the nacelle pylons higher up.

Well, it's more of a shovelhead than an arrowhead, but I agree that it's pretty nifty.

I might experiment with long and wide ovals and a couple of funky Atolm-esque saucers.

Yeah, other primary hull shapes really aren't working for me. Wide ovals would necessitate a redesign of the engineering hull, circles don't really gel with the shapes, long ovals make it seem a bit too Ent-E-ish, and pointy arrowheads are kinda overdone anyways, so I'm shelving that idea for now.

Aaanyways, I'm trying to nail down:

    A) Specific era

It's a post 2360s ship obviously, but I'm not certain about what year, specifically. I was thinking somewhere in the 2371-2378 range.

    B) Class Name

    I dunno. Interceptor? Enkidu?

My idea about its purpose is that it's a high-speed transport designed for ferrying small teams to planets/stations/etc., in the event of invasion or some other emergency that warrants Marines/Security/Vacuumn Cleaner Salesman/whatever fills that role in your personal canon. It'd provide logistics and fire support from orbit. If neecessary, the shovel can ditch the stardrive and act as a base camp.

During peacetime, it would make a handy planetary survey ship, in terms of hauling plenty of dudes and analysis equipment to a planet. While its a nice science ship, the Nova-class really doesn't seem cut out for the gettin' your hands dirty kind of survey work. Again, support, logistics, instant base camp.

Enkidu is a fine name for the class. Having a hull designed for a prolonged stay upon a planetary surface while the rest of the ship ferries back and forth would also make for a nice colony ship.

Hokay, so I've decided on it being the Normandy-class.

Annyways, while the Normandy would play a role in colonizing a world (Survey operations, etc), sitting around and establishing a colony is kind of outside the mission profile - it would ground the ship for so long when it could be useful for other things.

A dedicated colony ship ought to be inexpensive, constructed with robust and proven technologies (making repairs easier, making it easier to get replacement parts. easier to build), carry many many more passengers, and be less heavily armed (the torpedoes, SFB-style drones, and motorpool on the Normandy take up a lot of space)
