Hi folks,

while thinking about what new theme to pick, this kinda came up, and I thought, why not?! Smoking in movies and on TV shows has been used for dramatic effect and/or to make a character look cool, intimidating, seductive, relaxed, sick, etc.. Obviously, it's not as omni-present as it used to be, since, you know, smoking's bad. But for this contest, it's really good.

Show us one or more characters smoking a cigarette, cigarillo, cigar, joint, pipe, anything smokable. Since there are so many choices, let's limit it a little and take Scifi and Fantasy out.

New forum avatar rules apply, so maximum 200x200 pixels and/or 1 Mb size.

Here's my entry:

So, folks, let's smoke 'em out!

I always get stuck on whether The Simpsons counts as "fantasy" or not. As well, I'm not entirely sure if this image fits your intention of "anything smokable"... in reality, anyway. But here's what I've got:

If The Simpsons is OK, but butter is not, I have another Homer image I can switch to. If The Simpsons is unacceptable altogether, let me know, and I can come up with something else.

Well, it's one of those cases where there are the occasional fantastic elements, but those are not inherent to the show as a whole. It's like Castle, which nobody would take as a scifi/fantasy show, but has used an invisibility suit and a parallel universe, among other things. So, I'm going to allow The Simpsons (and similar cartoons like South Park or Family Guy, but none with inherent scifi/fantasy elements, so no Futurama or American Dad).

As for the butter, I'd say this falls into the category of exaggeration, similar to the heroes of action heroes go through the most insane stunts without so much as a scratch.

Sure took a long road to saying "I'll allow it", didn't I.
