Mork and Mindy could credibly have a prequel, because the Orkans age in reverse!

    SHAZBOT!

What next? Laverne, the Fonz and Mr. Bickley all get trapped back in the Depression era and have to rig a radio and some vacuum tubes to get back home?

Speaking of Mork and Mindy, does anybody know anything about this tribble-like pet that Mork apparently had a couple episodes? My sister-in-law and her husband spent nearly an hour on Saturday trying to explain to me this bizarre fuzzy blob that kept chasing Mindy and trying to find YouTube videos that proved its existence, and I do not remember this at all, and bear in mind that I remember the existence of Mork From Ork Bubble Gum.

It seems to appear in the opening credits from the later episodes of the third season, eg ``Mork and Mindy meet Rick and Ruby'', just after Mork leaps out from the attic and as Jim Staahl's credit appears.

I mean, what the heck is it, and is it tribble-related?

you can see the tribble thing in this clip

I'm looking for the one where mork and johnathan winters beam back from Ork after a shopping trip and instead of bags they have a champagne bottle and some glasses...shatner beams in with bags in his hands, exchanges them for the champagne and says "beam me up orson"...winters wondesrs if shatner will get the girl, and mork responds "he can do anything he wants, he's the captain."

I think I remember from the original run a segment where when they send a "beam" for mork it mistakenly beams in shatner who is shaving and mork says "whoops, wrong beam."

they were pretty fast and loose with the trek jokes, helps to have the same parent company.

That was in the episode I actually caught in SciFi's Thanksgiving marathon. It was, I'm pretty sure, a season premiere, an hourlong story called "Putting the Ork Back in Mork." Mork had become too assimilated and lost his Orkan identity (and was even physically becoming human, somehow), and was in danger of being (confusingly enough) taken back to Ork and ostracized from Orkan society. So an "elder" was sent -- this was the episode that revealed Orkans age backward, so it was actually a preadolescent boy -- to teach Mork how to be Orkan again. As part of this, Mork's attic dwelling was remodelled with Orkan furniture, devices, etc., and among the reminders of home was his old pet, the big tribble-like thing (whose name I forget).

I think the furball's name was Beebo, but it's a wild guess at this point. Been too long since I've seen the show.

^^I think you're right. The name Beebo sounds familiar.

I remember a Beebo being mentioned, but I wasn't a regular viewer for a couple of seasons then (pre-home-video-explosion and school and all) but I wondered who or what it was in reference to.

Around the exact same time MORK was on the air, actor Phillip Pine(Green on TOS)was on the solo spinoff of SANFORD & SON in an episode about Fred being called for jury duty. But by then Pine's hair was almost totally grey and he would have looked radically different in his old Colonel Green jumpsuit.

For some reason, this thread just reminded me, "Quark" is coming out on DVD soon! :D

Correction: It's already out! And cheap, too!!

I remember reading about "Quark" in a TV compendium of all existing network shows between 1946 and the beginning of the 90s. One of the flashy flops of the late 70s like "Hot L Baltimore" or "Supertrain" that never caught on but had some seriously interesting writing.

I'll give you the writing on Hot L Baltimore, but Supertrain?? Really?? Love Boat on a Train??? I guess it is all about how you define "interesting writing."

That's how the book's writers described the show. A flashy bomb with some interesting plot ideas that were never developed.:p

Does anyone have any pics of the costumes appearing in Mork and Mindy? Or a link to a clip?

I thought I was the only one that remembered Quark. I couldn't believe it wasn't a smash hit. Now that I am older, I realize that the appeal was mainly to nerds like me. If I recall correctly, they put the Landers sisters in the show in skimpy outfits in order to draw more viewers. That was so many years ago, and I was so young, that I am having trouble remembering. I do remember that it was hilarious and that it had a lot of Trek parody.
