after the disappointment of shows like Merlin and Atlantis I was worried about this one but ended up loving it. certainly better than the film version with fat Kiefer Sutherland :)

Thought it was passably bland rather than offensively so like Atlantis. Felt a little homogenised to me, like they were aping American TV with the random sex and meaningless action (or maybe that should be the other way around). Though to be fair it was the first episode with a lot of setting up to be done.
I gave Atlantis the full series, I can probably do the same for this.

Well I thought the second episode was again very good, although it seemed a bit of a stretch for d'Artagnan to be involved in such a plan so early on. It almost felt like there needed to be another episode where he’s involved with the Musketeers first. Also it seemed like they were shoehorning Richelieu and Milady being nefarious into the episode when there was no good reason for them to be acting so, aside from reminding us that they’re bad guys.

Liked the villain's real plan, a lot of good action and the interaction between all four male leads continues to be excellent. And Aramis scoring with the Queen of France…that’s gonna end badly

Yeah I thought there was a lot of good stuff, it looks like there's going to be a lot of romantic angst. I was a little disappointed that the bad guy died, I thought he was interesting and would have liked to have seen more of him. I thought with all the mention of tricks he was going to just disappear at the end. I also thought the Musketeers were a little slow.

"The secret is to get them looking in the wrong direction."
"What do you think that means."
    "Don't know."

Little bit more ingenuity chaps ;).

Yes, although they caught on eventually and Athos realising it was actually a robbery was something I hadn't considered.

Surely the difference between just badly and really super badly, all rests on whether if she's also romantically entwined with Buckingham?

Well it kept me entertained for an hour. So looks like I'll be tuning in for episode 3. Though given that this first season are independant stories for the most part, perhaps season 2, will be more arc based around Buckingham.

With Capaldi out of season 2, I wonder if they'll go with Buckingham as the main antagonist in his place, or just introduce Mazarin way too early?

Of course it'll never happen, but it'd be hilarious in the context, if they cast Matt Smith as Buckingham.

I've seen the two episodes now and i'm impressed.. it shows that Hollywood is not the only place capable of making good TV shows.

I love the original book and as i have said i love the 70s all star cast Musketeer movies and this show shapes up to be quite entertaining.

High production values (it helps when you can film in Europe where there's an abundance of old castles, fortressess and caverns), good cast and good humor and above all good fights.

Really looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

You'd have to wonder for what reason the UK would deny US Distribution?

^ I don't think the idea is that BBC UK would deny distribution but more of does BBC America want it.

Given that the end card aside from saying BBC, says BBC America and BBC Worldwide. So I would hazard a guess that BBC America might have co-finaced it.

But episode 3 is over and it does have a familiar face for Sci-Fi fans James Callis.

was a little bit gruff wasn't he!

For me I can never quite get past him as Bridget Jones' gay best friend ;)

Another good episode, and they've explained about Athos/Milady, glad we didn't have to wait weeks to find out the history there.

Frankly I nearly gave up when they started with Mrs Baltar holding a flintlock side-on, gangsta-style. As if that pose isn't stupid enough normally...
