You own a replica B9?! but I can do you one better. I own both a lifesize Dalek and a Ghostbusters Proton Pack, both built by my two hands. Did you build your B9 or spend top dollar for him?
Oh, yeah. Nice pics. I can definately see Kirk using the low lighting in the second pic for a little "private conference" with a certain yeoman, if you know what I mean.
And with a custom insert for the door frame, a couple new textures, a couple props and some appropriate lighting, we have Captain Kor's quarters!
Looks like a cozy and secure place to give Kali the bomb that he intends to destroy Enterprise with, don't you think? (Speaking of Kali, here's a shot of her in 3D, as well )

I hadn't actually thought of it, but, yeah, I could probably make a WS version. I've actually been thinking of going all out on it and making new aspects on the other two sides, such as a complex stereo system on one and a mini-bar with slide-out sink on the other ...

...I expected Klingon quarters to be darker, smaller and less comfortable...

Well, it is the captain's quarters, after all . And admittedly, the camera 'lens' has something to do with making it look bigger - in order to get a broader view, I used a 25mm focal length, which tends to stretch out the depth of an image - this room isn't as big as, say, Kirk's quarters, but it may seem more spacious because it has very little to break up the floor. I plan to work on the lighting rig, as well as a set of more metallic, industrial textures for the wall surfaces, that should make it less 'comfy.' And, honestly, I never thought Pike's bed looked all that comfortable to begin with .
Yeah, I think the Tempur-Pedic (R) memory foam finally gave out.
A bit more seriously, that "porthole" has piqued my curiosity. (However, before I go any further, please, for Mogg's sake, please don't don't use my casual ponderings as an opportunity to turn Ptrope's thread into an imbittered canon/fanon flame war! My observation is just that, casual, and I'm sure it has holes like a colander.) Anyway, going with Ptrope's suggestion this cabin still exists upon the ship during Kirk's tour of duty, I kinda' like the idea it was the "original" captian's cabin and due to the curvature of the porthole and bulkhead, it is located somewhere within the "B and C deck" bulge. However, Kirk didn't want to "elevate" himself above his other officers, so he set it aside as a VIP stateroom and he, himself, opted for one of the "bog standard" officer's quarters a few decks below.
Of course, if this were the case, why did Kirk make Uhura give up her quarters for the Dolman of Elaas? Was that recessed apeture above Pike's bunk really a porthole? As I stated, my idea has more holes than a sponge.
Well, interestingly enough, I also thought that might be the location of these particular quarters, based upon that same wall/porthole curvature. I suppose, on a Klingon ship, it could be argued that it may be at the top of the front 'bulb,' below that overhanging deck, where the hull also curves over like the upper decks on the Constitution-class.
Of course, if Pike's quarters were in that location, my 'placeholder' corridor is probably completely wrong ...
I was thinking where this cabin, redressed as Kor's, would exist on the Klothos and I too figured it would be somewhere along the upper curvature of the "bulb".
Here's a Poser 4 render of the cabin.
I replaced the purple shades of the floor for a warmer "goldenrod" and a deep earth tone ring. The other week I saved the "dynamic cloth" bedspread from the standard quarters as a static object I could use in P4. I loaded it, positioned it and scaled it to fit Pike's bunk. I created my variation of the sparkled, rust hued spread texture. I tossed in Spock mainly for scale reference. (He's my equivalent of TallGuy's blue silhouette.) I actually mixed two separate renders, one with stark grey toned shadows and a second with pastel lighting with no cast shadow-maps. Blended, I think it gives some hint of the colored lighting employed during TOS.
His collar is wrong for this, but this arrangement makes me think Spock is surveying the now vacant cabin just after Pike has stepped down from command.
I think you've really captured the moment, there, Redfern . You've also demonstrated the size of the room quite well. And good job on the bedspread; it looks like it was made for this bed (in a way, it was - I scaled the bed from the regular cabin to fit here, but I mapped it differently and added the piping that was on Pike's mattress).
You might think about changing the colors of Spock's tunic to match those from "The Cage" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before" - the collar might blend better and it would be more in keeping with the time frame of the scene .
Alas, I didn't save the scene with that particular lighting set. It was something of a fortuitous fluke I generated that and I suspect I'd not capture it again so as to insert Spock with the proper shirt design.
Actually, I didn't have a moment or scene in mind. I rendered the room using a 70 mm setting on the "camera" to give a truer sense of the room's scale and tossed in Spock to aid that and provide a little visual interest. It was only after I had saved the renders that I started "reading" into the shot, "The cabin has no personal effects, yet Spock is standing there; why?"
But I certainly thank you for the encouraging assessments of my digital "doodling". Yeah, that's an appropriate way of considering my stuff. Like a bored person with a pen and pad during a meeting, I often just "muck" about in Poser, grabbing random props and/or figures and play with camera angles, poses and lighting. Sometimes I come up with something that's moderately "interesting" and I save it.
I like Kor's cabin... but it might seem more Klingon if you removed the mattress and just used the wooden 'shelf' (as Data would say).

New animated (fan) episodes in the offing - kewl. I always like attention being given to TAS and I hope this will help raise interest in your project as well.
Just thought I'd post this, since it will undoubtedly figure in my creation of Spock (this is actually the original Vulcan image I used for the figure in my June forum challenge entry):
I need to work on the texture somewhat, to eliminate where the original reddish color of the lips bleeds out of the material zone - more just a matter of adjusting the overall tone of the texture map, since the green cast here is added under the normal fleshy texture map. And, yes, Spock is going to get green lips, in keeping with his green blood .
The black eyes are not for the project - I wanted them that way for the composition image. (not knowing at the time that I was going to invert it, in the end)
