STiD will be in 1,565 theaters this weekend, down 766 theaters from the 2,331 it was in last weekend.

I have confirmed that it will be gone from Morgantown as of tomorrow. :(

And there will be no second run showings, unlike with Trek 2009, because the Warner Theater downtown closed in 2010.

STID is Now Gone From Cinemas Here

Wow - with "Despicable Me", "Monsters University" and World War Z" opening here yesterday in Australia I checked my local cinema listings to see how many sessions were left for STID and was surprised to see it is now gone!

Didn't really matter as once was MORE than enough for me but ....wow - REALLY?!? THAT quickly?

There must be some sharp pencil boys at Paramount who are seriously wondering what happened!

Yep, gone in Parkersburg too, but still at least one more week in Charleston and Wheeling just in case you want to make a road trip! :)

Moving to the box office thread, since there's similar discussion in there and not much new content here.

Here too, which is odd in a 14-theatre cinema. Iron Man 3 is still playing tomorrow, though.

It is a better film and deserves to play longer.

That and the fact cinemas will play a film as long as people are turning up.

People stopped coming to see Star Trek: The Fast and The Furious(thanks RLM!!!)but are still coming to see IM3.

Understandable and as Dennis said elsewhere - the audience is always right!

Of course, that's not true at all. People are still coming to see both of those films. More people are coming to see IM3, that's all.

But man are people twisting, now that the international take is north of 400 million, to try to convince themselves that STID is not a success.

I am happy that the film succeeded. For me, the success of this film has extended its life span a few more years. I am hoping that the next film will have greater success with the younger audience. It distresses me when I see things stagnating and/or dieing.

Yes, awesome logic. "Into Darkness" is currently number 8 and people "stopped coming to see it," yet Iron Man 3 is number 11 and people are "still seeing it."

Well yeah, Tulin's logic does fall apart when you consider that STID is running on hundreds of more screens in the U.S. right now that IM3, and still will be this weekend.

Wheeling is closer to me than Charleston, but then so is Pittsburgh, which still has a few theaters playing STID.

Even closer than either of those cities: Washington, PA. The Regal there is showing Trek once a day this weekend.

Here, in Kingston, it is still playing in both our cinemas. Cineplex has it in 3D, and Empire has it in 2D and 3D.

It's playing on a lot more screens than Iron Man in English language cinemas in the Montreal region. Didn't check the French ones (I don't watch dubbed movies if I can avoid it).
