I generally prefer a female avatar. Gear looks cooler on them.

Generally use same gender characters unless taking advantage of a skill set, like the Orion Female Science Officer.

    I don't think that I role-play a female well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not about roleplay... it's about looking at nice features while playing ;)

The thing about female characters is how manu customization options they get. I weep at my male Romulan's lack of hairstyles.

Indeed. And a new processor. And more RAM.

Shadows and bloom still kill me, though. Good thing I don't like bloom, and the difference between High and Medium shadows isn't that much (at least in space).

I have both male and female characters in STO, pretty much equal amount of both:)
I tend to think about the background story of the toon before I create it and that sometimes determines the gender then or at least play a part. I rarely write that story to the profile, though I have been planning to do that later still to some of my toons.

The Avenger seems smaller than I thought it'd be:

I just got an Avenger battlecruiser. It is quite impressive. I got 3 dual heavy phaser cannons, 2 quantum torps in the front and 2 phaser array and 1 phaser turret in the back. The frontal attack is awesome!

Just what did they fix in the Foundry? I don't see anyone talking about it on the forums or anything.

And with today's patch my inability to play the game is resolved. Wonderful.

Well I picked up the Avenger today and am conflicted on whether to use it on my main fed tac character or hold it for when I make another fed character and stick to my Vesta.

Have you guys seen the "Klingon Intelligence Files" on the Voth? That document read like they've been written by a human, its an immersion breaker for me.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

    Thought the same thing.

It's like they wrote it and then decided to throw the KDF a bone by making it their report instead, inserted the word warrior a couple of times and called it a day.

My Fed and Klink are male, but when LoR went live I made my Romulan female just to mix things up a bit. So far I haven't run into much creepiness. Less than I expected, anyway.
