I dunno, Star Trek could use some A-listers, couldn't it? Maybe they'd have to find one who is more enthusiastic about Trek, like Tom Hanks (although is he considered A-list anymore?). I don't know how Johnny Depp feels about it, but he would be pretty awesome to see in any role.

Omigod, yes, please. (I mean, I agree with BillJ that the writers should be the ones making the scripts, but assuming that can be addressed, omigod, yes.)

    Agreed.

Or a star big enough to suck out a substantial (and disproportionate) chunk of the budget.

Problem is, that would make Depp the lead of the movie rather than Pine or Quinto.

Nah. Just have the credits go "and Johnny Depp". Plus neither of the other films run credits before the story, so why would it matter. And it worked fine in the first Burton Batman movie with Nicholson as the Joker.

Well, they did have Bana in a movie, and at the time he had a lot more star power than they had. A couple other movies had some actors who were definitely bigger names than some of the TV actors at the time.

I guess it depends on if the villain (if there is one) is a central focus.

Somebody as famous as Johnny Depp would never agree to do Trek, would they? Depp would probably laugh it off as being too "mainstream". :p

Reminds me of Superman and Marlon Brando appearing first, followed by Gene Hackman.

By the way Ryan, I've enjoyed your morphing Khan avatar. You should post them all in succession at some point.

I'll probably make this (or something like it) my avatar once the spoiler grace period is over.

^ An animated one. Nice. I was going to suggest that too.

Nicely done! It would be fun to see Cumberbatch with Montalban's head, whilst wearing the flowing black Evil Guy™ long coat.

I would matter because if you're going to pay for Johnny Depp, you're going to USE him.

Two TOS favorite episodes of mine are Balance of Terror and The Enterprise Incident.

A story that includes a Triangle of The Klingons, Romulans, and Federation involving cloaking technology that the Romulans have possessed in the original timeline has potential for a good story with some nice f/x.

Please don't let it be a time travel story.

Tennant would be great but I think Q needs to be more dashing looking.

My sources tell me that Jim Carrey has been contacted to play Q.

Please God, no. Carrey hasn't been good since The Mask.

You didn't like him in The Truman Show? Or, for that matter, in Man on the Moon?
