STAR TREK 50th Anni. La-La Land/TAKING REQUESTS!

Okay, I just copied Lukas Kendal''s subject title.

A quick catch-up for those here who don't know, but Lukas used to run his label Film Score Monthly for many years until he got tired of running a label and retired it and now works on helping releases from other labels. As you likely know, they released the complete scores to STII and STIII.

Anyway, he posted two things of interest today:

Hi Folks!

I am glad people were excited about La-La Land's 3CD Collection Vol 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Coming this spring/summer is the long-awaited 4CD Collection for Star Trek: Voyager...and then after that we have a "50th Anniversary" Star Trek collection that we're going to do a little differently...because we're TAKING REQUESTS!

This 50th Anniversary album (# of discs TBD) will have music from across the 50 years of the Star Trek franchise—including previously unreleased cues from TNG, DS9, VOY (beyond the upcoming album) and ENT.

This is not to say there may not be future volumes for DS9, ENT and the other shows, but for now, we are concentrating on this 50th Anniversary collection to present as much previously unreleased music as we can.

So...if you have favorite scores and/or cues, please list them here in this thread! Be as specific as you want from the episodes—give me Netflix timecode from the episodes and I will make sure to try to include the correct piece!

Let's see how this goes. Thanks!

Lukas

Folks, we are researching the Animated Series and hope to be able to release it in some form, at some time. That's all I can say—there are licensing as well as technical hurdles.

Thanks,

Lukas

Will he be reading any requests from this thread? I don't want to compile a massive wish list and not have him see it. :)

I will see posts at this forum, yes. Please let us know what you want!

Okay, best I could do in half an hour, and I don't have timestamps because I don't have the DVDs or Blurays handy. I will look stuff up in more detail if you'd like. I apologize in advance for the length!

TNG

"Justice" - There's some good stuff throughout this score, highlights include the jogging sequence, and the scene where the energy ball appears and knocks Data down. A complete score is out there but it's pretty poor quality.
"The Measure of a Man" - When Maddox is on the bridge discussing Data, and Data packing in his quarters.
"Contagion" - Some good action cues at the end of the teaser and the opening of the first act.
"The Hunted" - Some of McCarthy's better action cues, both in the first and last two acts.
"Transfigurations" - The final cue, reworked for "All Good Things" but in its original form here.
"The Mind's Eye" - The cue from the last act, especially the moment where Geordi picks up the phaser and walks down the hallway.
"Conundrum" - The somewhat eerie cue from Act I, reused in "Cause and Effect", "Time's Arrow, Part I", "Man of the People" and I believe "Timescape" as well.
"Starship Mine" - The cue where Picard is alone on the bridge.
"Masks" - Some great atmospheric cues throughout the episode.
"Genesis" - Some creepy moments here and there, as well as the shuttle approaching the Enterprise with what I call the "Season 7 French Horns".

DS9

"Blood Oath" - The whole last act, some really great action stuff, sadly dialed way down in the episode.
"Equilibrium" - The Joran Dax piano music.
"Meridian" - Some nice romantic McCarthy cues, he was quoted as being really pleased with this score.
"Fascination" - The last act has some great comedic music.
"Shakaar" - Paul Baillargeon's first DS9 score, the whole thing is worth including.
"The Muse" - Some nice atmospheric music, and the moment in the last act where Onaya leaves.
"Children of Time" - The rest of the score! At the very least, the moment where older Odo and Kira walk together in Act 2. The most beautiful 20 seconds of music I've ever heard.
"Empok Nor" - Some really great scary moments throughout, and the drums prior to the Garak/O'Brien fight are top notch.
"The Magnificent Ferengi" - Some good comedic stuff here.
"Treachery, Faith and the Great River" - The space battle, great David Bell score.
"The Dogs of War" - The final scene with Sisko and Kasidy.

VOY

"Parallax" - After Voyager is shaken up the first time, some great, interesting piano work here.
"Maneuvers" - The cue where Chakotay's shuttle is hiding under the Kazon ship.
"The Thaw" - The carnival source music and the scene where they fail to stop The Clown from beheading the scientist.
"Real Life" - The whole thing, please!
"The Gift" - The final cue.
"Revulsion" - More great David Bell stuff, especially the last act.
"Message in a Bottle" - The humorous space battle in the last act.
"The Killing Game" - As much as possible, including Jeri Ryan's vocals.
"Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy" - The briefing room fantasy scene, hilarious sax music. And the Doctor's song!
"Memorial" - Some great, pounding percussion during the flashback sequences.
"Imperfection" - The brief space chase, again, David Bell...
"Endgame" - The whole thing will probably get released, but I really want the cue from the Tom & B'Elanna
"flyboy" scene.

ENT

"Cold Front" - Silik jumping out of the ship, and the final cue.
"Dear Doctor" - Some more from this score would be nice.
"Shuttlepod One" - Some nice, subtle stuff from the last act and final scene.
"Acquisition" - The first act is mostly music-driven, some fun stuff.
"Fallen Hero" - The moment Enterprise hits Warp 5.
"Singularity" - Unusually intense, pounding score from Jay Chattaway.
"Anomaly" - Surprised this wasn't on the first volume. Awesome stuff, especially the raid sequence.
"Borderland" - Soong's failed escape.

ODDS AND ENDS

A TAS release would be amazing but unlikely at this point. But you never know!

And last, but not least, the glorious 80's "Countdown" Encounter at Farpoint trailer music:

Very excited for this! Bought TNG Vol. 2 this week, and can't wait for VOY.

Getting the battle sequence from ENT: "Azati Prime" would be excellent! (~36:30-40:10). I also second the calls on the FSM board for the missing bits from DS9: "Sacrifice of Angels", and the 'as-aired' version of the "The Way You Look Tonight" underscore from DS9: "What You Leave Behind".

ETA: Also, the TNG: "Unification I" sequence running from 31:57-34:48 ("Sarek is dead"/The Smuggler's Ship).

"Equilibrium" - The Joran Dax piano music.
Seconded! I would love to hear more source music for sure. I would kill to have a good recording of the James Darren/Avery Brooks duet, "The Best Is Yet To Come" from Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang. I know the legalities make it unlikely, but if you don't ask... Actually, if there can only be one song due to cost or whatever, I'd want it to be the version of It's Only A Paper Moon that Nog listens to over and over in the ep of the same name. There is a version on James Darren's CD, but it's very different from the one in the episode.

I'd also like to have the TV edit of the farewell/Way You Look Tonight cue from DS9's finale. The CD version is great, but it's not how I know the music. The TV version removed, I think...some jazzy sax?

Also, not 100% if it's already released but from the ENT episode Azati Prime, I'd like the cue from the last scene of the episode, when the Enterprise takes an absolute pasting.

Anything from Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang, but most especially the scene where they're talking through how the heist will go and the cue when they're walking into the holodeck all dressed to the nines. Totally awesome and true to both DS9 and the music of the period.

Impressive list! Agreed, the Countdown trailer music and the TNG episode trailer music is a must! I would also opine that the Horner music from Star Trek the Adventure as well as the "Genesis Countdown" cue as heard in the film with the additional stings of the blaster beam are a must!

Picard's flute solo in The Inner Light and him playing it again with Commander Daren in Lessons.

The whole episode score for the Voyager episode The Blink of an Eye.

My apologies if I repeat what anyone else has already listed - and yes, I know some are on the "unlikely to happen" list:
  • any music from the animated series (notably the main theme)
  • Hallmark ornament commercials music (Klingons, Romulan, Ogawa, Nimoy)
  • The James Darren/Avery Brooks "The Best is Yet to Come Duet" ("Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")
  • "The Warrior's Anthem" (versions from the Klingon interactive movie and "Soldiers of the Empire")
  • drinking songs ("Way of the Warrior", "Barge of the Dead")
  • "La Donna è Mobile" (versions from "Lifeline" and "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy")
  • "Echoes of the Void" ("Night")
  • "Aktuh and Maylota" ("Unification II")
  • "Melor Famagal" ("Unification II")
  • "Alba Ra" ("Suddenly Human")
  • "Falor's Journey" ("Innocence")
  • any of Riker's trombone performances

Oh, oh...I got another one!

I'd love to have the duet (Jadzia and Klingon Chef) "Arkla Bella Doo" (sp?) from Playing God.
