Question or anyone that may know:

Is there talk of giving the other original 1970ies era Space Battleship Yamato story arcs the 'updated' treatment? - (IE are they considering/planning to do the Comet Empire or Bolar Wars storylines after the run of the original updated story is finished?)

There is no word yet on if they intend of continue with the other series arcs at this time.

They have, however, included things from those series into Yamato 2199. Things that could or should logically be present, just were not in the original because they hadn't written those stories yet. Things like the dimentional submarine from the Bolar Wars, or the Comet Empire fleets fighting the Gamilas Empire in 2199. Or people like the other admirals or fleet captains we'd see later on doing stuff in the Gamilas War, or people who might be important later in the story that have connections to the present cast being shown early (Tokogawa's younger son for example).

If the discs do indeed make a profit you can bet your wave motion gun on them making more. Cash flow is most often what determines if something is continued as far as anime goes.

    How about these instead?

Someone has the Limited Edition BD and filmed two scenes with a phone camera. (The movie is still in theaters and the theater purchased BD are almost out of stock in all 16 theaters...it has only been out for about four days).

The first is the funeral after the Battle of the Rainbow Cluster

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtJfHNVVDKQ

The second is a lighthearted bit in the mess hall (probably episode 22) were Yamamoto introduces two familiar alien guests to ice cream.

    Hopefully they work.

(I was hoping for a battle scene, but I take what I can get)

Bootlegs of blurays... I think that's a first for me.

If your referring to the clips, the theaters were selling limited edition BD of chapter six. There have been no bootlegs of any of the DVD's as far as we know. That was poor sound quality coming off of a TV screen with a hand held camera recording.

That's what I meant. It's the first time I've seen someone "bootleg" a Bluray by recording it with a phone.

I will say, the hardcore fans must have a lot of loyalty or dedication to not do what inevitably happens with all digital media - upload it somewhere.

    And one more.

Be warned though, this is from the end of Episode 22 and includes the preview for episode 23. If you can wait, good for you. I was curious because they released images of title cards for the episodes...which are at the end of each episode. To say episode 22 ends on a cliffhanger is an understatement.

A lot does happen in Chapter 6. This is a sort of summary. I've not seen it, but I've been able to piece things together from what people have said about it, the trailer, the clips form the BD, and the Japanese wiki on the matter.

    Episode 19:
Dommel is released from confinement and given a task by Desler to capture the Iscandarian on Yamato. Dommel also asks to destroy the ship. Unfortunately the majority of the Gamilas Navy is away from Gamilas, defending the frontiers or on their way back from the disaster at Balun, which will take several weeks to months to return home. This leaves only the Imperial Guard left to defend Gamilas. So Gimmhil gives Dommel what he can spare....four training carriers. These are staffed with trainees, reservists, and retired soldiers. To help with the capture of the Iscandarian, Wulf and his submarine UX-01 are added with a torpedo boat and a infultration team of Zultzi (pale skinned second class citizens like those that ran Pluto Base). To help give Dommel and edge against Yamato, his friend Talan has the latest in matter teleportation technology installed on Dommel's flagship battleship. Additionally, Dommel repurposes an asteroid mining drill into a drill missile to drill into Yamato and hopefully destroy it...or at least negate its wave motion gun. They go to meet Yamato in the Rainbow Star Cluster, because Yamato has to pass through there to reach Iscandar.

    Episode 20:
Dommel's fleet uses the matter teleportation device to surprise Yamato with bomers and take out its radar, sensors, and shield generator. They then batter it and plug the wave motion gun with the drill missile. The Green carrier is destroyed by Yamato's fighters and much of the fighter and torpedo bombers are destroyed.

The infultration team boards Yamato in a lull while Yamato's radar is still out. During the confrontation, Hoshino (the younger security guard) is shot with Yuria as a witness, her pained scream wakes Yurisha from her pod in the navigaton room. (Hoshino survives this). Yuki is nearby and arrives first. The Gamilas think she's the Iscandarian and capture her. Kodai and a security team arrive too late to save her, but only one of the Gamilas escape. They make it back to the submarine which escapes dispite Kodai's efforts in the Cosmo Zero to stop them.

Dommel's remaining forces converge on Yamato. The Red battle carrier in the lead followed by Dommel's flagship. Its bulk and armor protecting the other two carrier behind them. Niimi and Analyser manage to reverse the drill missile which somehow hits the Red battle carrier destroying it. The debris from the battle carrier forces the other two carriers to evade, allowing them to be shot and destroyed by Yamato (the purple one is shot by Yamato, the blue one may have run into the debris instead). This leaves only Dommel's ship to fight Yamato one on one. Okita eventually uses the terran (the Rainbow Star Cluster is dangerous) to defeat Dommel's ship, with only the detachable bridge section surviving. Dommel self destructs under the "third bridge" which survives, but is heavily damaged, taking out Yamato's gravity system and shield generator.

    Episode 21:
Wulf takes Yuki (who plays up that they think she's Yurisha to cover Yamato) to a prison planet were he's suppose to transfere her to another ship. But there is a prision riot...and Yamato arrives. Wulf leaves in his submarine to deliver Yuki to Desler in person.

During the revolt, Admiral Dietz is released, as is Dommel's wife. Dietz via his daughter and seeing Yurisha sides with Yamato.

    Episode 22:
Desler's plans to unify Gamilas and Iscandar go forward as Yuki continues to make it seem like she is Yurisha. He plans to move the capitol so his has had a city-ship built, but since Yamato is closing in , his has it tasked with destroying Yamato. Yamato arrives at the fifth planet in the system and while they think they are unobserved, Desler has the city-ship fire a Desler Cannon at it from between Iscandar and Gamilas (the fourth twin planets in the system).

There is likely a bunch more, but I have more information of episode 19 and 20 than I have on 21 and 22.

Well, that explains one of the big questions I had after watching the 22 ending anyway.
The last batch of episodes will be interesting, to say the least.

Thanks for doing all this recon on the releases!

The Battle of the Rainbow Star Cluster comes...

The end of episode 19 (the launching for fighters just before the battle starts):

Preview for Episode 20 (the Battle)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXkE5wcnNCE

The episode for the battle is reported to be about five minutes longer than the other episodes. Goes from basically the first fighter on fighter contact to the last explosions. The funeral scene is at the beginning of episode 21. So episode 20 is basically all about the battle.

Huh...definitely looks like they're going for an American release but quite scant on details. Promising, in any case. :)

I just saw that "Starblazers" news. I'm not holding my breath for an actual release until it happens though, given that announcement. :p

Maybe they'll just end up selling the Japanese BDs locally.

Additional spoiler information on Chapter 6, plus there is news that the BD release for Chapter 7 will be delayed a month with limited edition sales being by mail order from people who went to the theaters rather than being sold in the theater (this happened for Chapter 2). The theatrical release and the TV airing of the episode will go as normal.

    Episode 19:

No real changes to the earlier spoiler save there is some discussion between Okita and Yurisha (still in Yuria's body) about the Wave Motion Gun and the reason Iscandar didn't just send the plans for the Cosmo Reverse system instead.

    Episode 20:

The Green carrrier and her fighters are sent head to draw off Yamato's fighters before the first SMITE attack of dive bombers which takes out Yamato's radar, sensors, gravity control, and shield generator. They also take out the port side catapult, teo of the forward turrets, and some anti-aircraft guns. Yamamoto launches in her Cosmo Zero to provide air cover while the Cosmo Falcons are still off engaging the Green Carrier and its fighter wing.

The Drill Missile bomber is SMITED to Yamato next and manages to launch the missile into the Wave Motion Gun before getting shot down by Yamamoto. After this the Dimentional Submarine "surfaces" to deliver the infutration squad via a torpedo boat to Yamato. They are not noticed for a while. Sanada is busy fixing the shield generator so he asked that Niimi be releases to deal with the drill missile with Analyser.

After heavy loses, two of Yamato's Cosmo Falcons locate and destroy the Green Carrier and mop up the remaining fighters before heading back towards Yamato.

The infutration team is discovered, but the closed person to the site is Yuki, who looks like Yurisha, so they gab her and make a break for the torpedo boat. Kodai, Shinohara, and some security manage to kill some of the infultrators, but their wounded commander blows up the hallway with a granade to cover the last one's escape with Yuki. Kodai launches straight out of the hanger in his Cosmo Zero without a catapult and tries to chase them down, but the submarine vanishes.

With the retrival mission finished, Dommel sends the torpedo bombers to wreck Yamato while the drill missile counts down to detonation(the timer was to give the infutration team time to finish their mission). Kodai and Yamamoto defend Yamato with their Comso Zeros while Kato returns with the few remaining Comso Falcons and wipe out the fleeing torpedo bombers who report the drill missile hasn't exploded. Niimi defuded it just before the torpedo bombers attacked.

Dommel's carier retrieve the remaining dive bombers and then change towards Yamato to finish it off. Niimi has Analysier reverse the drill missile so it backs out of Yamato as Dommel's fleet attacks. Okita has the ship turn 90 degrees to the enemy, while that gives them a larger target, it also allows Yamato to use its functional aft turrets. One of which is used to blow up the drill missile as it passes close to the Red battle carrier destroying it. The Blue Carrier fails to evade the fireball and is also destroyed. Yamato manages to destroy the Purple Carrier before it can relaunch the dive bombers leaving only Dommel's flagship.

After a duel, Dommel's ship is in flames, and heading for destruction in the clouds. Dommel detaches his bridge to use as a bomb to take out Yamato. He has a talk to Okita first, but follows his loyalty to his country and detonates. Yamato is saved by Sanada getting the shields up just in time.

Kodai is haunted by Yuki being taken, when he finds out that Yurisha has woken up.

    Episode 21:

Yamato has a funeral for those lost in the battle. They need to repair the ship so they head for a nearby planet that might have the materials they need. Unfortunately that world is a Gamilas Prison Planet hilding rebels and prisoners of war...and lot of people from the Comet Empire ("Ghare Zordar"). The Warren shoots pronsoners for sport.

The UX-01 arrives to transfer "Yurisha" to another ship bound for Gamilas. Dommel's wife, who is a prisoner there, is assigned to help Yuki as the seems to have been a family task for the Dommels. The remaining Zaltz is taken with Yuki, and is helped by her when the Warren tries to beat him as a second class citizen (Commander Wulf was about to belt the Warren when Yuki stopped them all with her words). Yuki is dressed in an Iscandarian dress, but keeps the hologram of Starsha she kept form Yamato.

Kodai and Yurisha crash on the planet thanks to the escaped Ito and Yabu (who survived the brig getting blown up in the battle). They arrive at the base at the same time as the ship coming from Gamilas. The Warden seened Yurisha and Yuki at the same time and is confused (one is in front of him while the other is an a view screen. Unfortunately for him, the arriving ship is the signal for a prison revolt. The Rebellion breaks everyone out and takes over the base while the leaders release Admiral Dietz. Kodai finally spots Yuki from the control tower as she's taken back to the UX-01 to escape the riots. Yuki didn't see Kodai, nor has any knowledge that Yamato is so close. The UX-01 warps iin the atmoshpere. Ito is killed defending Yurisha, and Yabu is taken in by the Rebels as one of them. Admrial Dietz brings the riot to and end. Yurisha shows Kodai where they will take Yuki...Gamilas. She also shows him Iscandar, which blows his mind.

    Episode 22:
A lot happen to Okita giving a captain's log on the events. Yamato was allowed by Dietz to land and repair on the Prison Planet. It seems Iscandarians are revered by Gamilas, so having Yurisha there made things easy. Admiral Dietz and Dommel's wife head off in a battleship after seeing Yamato off. I don't know were they are heading presently.

Melda Dietz remains on Yamato with Yurisha to provide a liason. Yamato is also given tactical knowledge of Gamilas befoe they head for Iscandar. Melda, Yurisha, and Yamamoto seem to bond a little. Kodai, Kato, and Shinohara have their captured Gamilas fighter (formerly recon Sword 3) repaired and repainted red for Melda.

On Gamilas, Yuki is presented to Desler. He moves forward with his plans to unite Iscandar and Gamilas. Celestera has Yuki over for tea. Her serving girl is Hilde, Schultz daughter. Celestera tells Yuki of when she and Linke were rescued by Desler, but the analogies seem off as Yuki is considered a creature in a cage for Desler to use...Celestera doesn't notice that she is the same...as the image show what seem to be Desler having killed a caged bird...perhaps his madness is going too far now.

Desler holds a state funeral for Dommel. Everyone is sad by the news of their great general's death. Desler announces the unification of Iscandar and Gamilas with consent by Yurisha. Starsha is watching from Iscandar and seems to think Yuk is Yurisha as well.

Yuki, Celestera, Hilde, and the Zaltz soldier who captured Yuki are taken to I suppose is Desler's ship (its in shadows so I can't be sure) as Talan reports on Balaras II..the floating city in Gamilas orbit. It has Imperial Guard ships escorting it as Goer's fleet from Balun is still two months away.

Back on Yamato, Kodai is fustrated by the plans to get to Iscandar...or perhaps Gamilas. He clearly wants to rescue Yuki. Okita gives a speech and then they warp to the Sanza system (where Iscandar and Gamilas are). They arrive at the fifth planet...everything is quit...too quit. Suddenly a massive energy burst come from between Gamials and Iscandar as Yamato....the episode ends.

Noooooooo! (I'm going to HATE having to wait an extra month for the final 4 episodes :wtf:;))
