Random LOLs and observations about Trek serieses

Laura Cynthia Chambers

Vice Admiral
Admiral
* "Kirk" is the Scottish word for church. (Scotty might know this) So we have a church and two chapels (Christine and the wedding ceremony room from "Balance of Terror") on the Enterprise.

* There are at least two Leonards (Nimoy and McCoy, and sometimes Mark Lenard) and two Jameses (Doohan and Kirk) on set, yet neither real actor portrays the character with their first name. So I imagine a moment where someone yells "Leonard!" and both Kelley and Nimoy's heads pop up, and the guy goes, "I mean Real Leonard, not Fake Leonard."

Also, did anyone on TOS typically call McCoy "Leonard"? And people who were on a first-name basis with Kirk typically called him Jim.

I'm not sure I remember anyone who called him Leonard in a casual situation. Leonard McCoy was how he introduced himself I guess. But Kirk called him Bones. I think everyone else called him Dr. McCoy or sometimes just McCoy, right?

Or just "Doctor" (notably Spock).

IIRC, Kirk called him Leonard once. At the end of The Changeling, I believe.

Well, Stargate SG-1 had 'Wormhole Xtreme!'

What about if Star Trek had 'Galaxy Quest' and the 'Galaxy Quest' movie is part of Star Trek history?
You beat me to it. I was going to say Galaxy Quest.

Maybe people in the Star Trek universe are fans of Star Wars.

Re Shatner's supposed penchant for line-stealing from the other actors:

When I hear that, I get this picture in my head of an otherwise empty bridge with Jim Kirk running around to every station, doing everybody's job and answering his own commands with "aye, aye sir!" in his impressions of the other character's voices and mannerisms.

And then we realize that a) it's a holodeck program and b) the senior staff has been watching him via a closed-circuit camera feed the whole time. That, or they're standing at the door of the holodeck watching, and he only sees them after he's been doing this for a few moments. :D

My you are busy with these new threads today aren't you?

How about the USS Aldous Huxley?

Yes, and Laura I know The Old Mixer has already spoken to you about starting threads with very little content. I'm going to wait and see what he says, but in the meantime I will also encourage you to join in ongoing threads, and occasionally start ones that have some meat on them.

I was thinking that maybe some of these odd threads could be folded into @Laura Cynthia Chambers 's "Random LOLs and observations about Trek serieses" thread. This one is maybe not the best example, but perhaps the merge is better than locking it entirely.
