I just read the first excerpt from the season 1 book. The level of detail looks amazing. If I am reading it right, it clocks in at 600 pages and is hardbound. This might very well be the closest we ever get to the archived UCLA documents. Sold and ordered.

Seems, from the comments I just read, that the dispute is with the guy who supplied to the publisher/author what was assumed to be commonly known pics in the public domain, but not knowing that they had actually been lovingly restored by others.

Hopefully they can come to an understanding before the book is due to go live.

Thanks, Therin, you are right, but... the publisher is aware of this and the pictures keep getting posted.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I've let Curt (the web architect) know. What browser and platform are you using? I'm using Google Chrome on a pc and the site looks okay for me.

PS - Thanks for the kudos!

I'm looking forward to this book, although I have to pause at the claim that the Roddenberry/Justman files at UCLA are "private and not available for general public viewing." I've been working with those files for the past two and a half years and they are most certainly available for public viewing and reproduction.

I'm impressed. I emailed the publisher about the UCLA files this morning and they adjusted their text by this afternoon.

Got my copy of this today and so far it looks really good and very comprehensive. I'll post more when I have a better feel for the content.

Steve, you and I have been collecting Star Trek books for a lot of years and with all that we own I think this is going to be one of my favorites. I'm not far into it but it is extremely well written and contains a lot of detail. I will be ordering the other two volumes for sure. If the other two volumes are as good this will be one of the best TOS reference books ever produced. If this was pitched to Pocket Books they were fools to let this one get away.

Looks like the publication dates for the other two volmes has been pushed back and spread out a little more.

Easier on the pocketbook but I was hoping that they would be finished by November. Oh well....

Ktrek, I haven't done a lot of star trek reading about the history of the show or anything like that, but you sound like you've read a lot in that regard. Does the information seem pretty accurate? I'm considering picking the book up.

It does seem pretty accurate and very well written. The book has a bibliography and index at the back for easy reference. The pictures used are pretty much ones you can find anywhere on the net, and they are black and white. However, the pictures are a pretty small part of the book as the book is large with small print. So a lot of information crammed into this volume. I'm glad I bought it because there are facts I never knew before in it's contents.

Cool, that sounds like a pretty glowing recommendation. I'll check it out.
