A friend and I both had the day off, so we kick-started our Summer Patio Tour a little early. Basically, we just want to experience food and beer on all the patios we can find. We tried doing it last year, but it was a pretty half-assed effort. This year we are committed.

^That's commitment: starting your patio-tour before they have chairs and tables on the patios! :bolian:

Well, technically that place doesn't even have a patio. It has tables and chairs in the parking lot. :p

But... drinking in the parking lot! - isn't that (almost) like smoking behind the bike-shed at school? :p

Not when the parking lot has fancy lights and umbrellas.

Ah! Then it's a way more fancy parking lot than I've ever seen.

My friend and I have a not entirely dissimilar project going: we're having a certain local dish on all patios we can find (to find whoever makes it the best and because my friend wants to smoke, without having to find the designated room for that sort, after her meal).

    Lazing about in (t)his garden...

...it hit me that I should take a few snaps of the emerging spring.

Then I found that there hadn't been much of an emerging of the spring in these parts... nothing much to show anyway...

    But I found this:

Here is the last of the snow. Hopefully it will be melted by tomorrow, then we can consider winter over.

My little nephew is doing a correspondence project for his kindergarten class. He mailed me a paper doll called Flat Stanley who is going to live with me for a month and write letters. I'm supposed to include photos, and I may be having more fun with this than my five year old nephew. The pictures aren't great art, but they're damn cute so I thought I'd share. My first set is going to be about traveling on the subway:

    So cute!

"Flat Stanley" was one of my favorite childhood books, btw.
