Very sorry to hear of your loss Sakrysta.

On Christmas Eve we were heading back home on the subway where we encountered a man playing the trumpet. My daughter loves giving money to street performers so my Father gave her some change. She walked up to give him the money but before she could he took her hand and prevented her from putting the change in his trumpet case until he could play Jingle Bells just for her. When he finished he let go of her hand and allowed her to put the change in. My sister managed to capture the moment.

Needless to say I gave the guy a few more bucks!

I love the little, genuine moments in everyday life. So pure. Thanks for sharing the story and the photo.

Indeed. Looks like a nice stew or soup you have going there.

My own crock pot has been getting quite a workout this week ... pork shoulder on Monday, barbecue chicken yesterday and chili today (that I got up at 5:30 a.m. to start making).

Now I want some bowls of hot stew.

    With oyster crackers.

    Sakrysta, my condolences.

Tuesday, we hiked to the ghost town in a state park. This is the ruins of an old church.

@ Tora Ziyal: Oooh! I love ruins like that! Nice capture!

Here are a couple of photos from today's snow day (and one from a concert I went to last week).

Yep, it's Queens. Those are the North Shower Towers in the distance.

Where is this? I've seen ruins of old mills along the Potomac north of DC.

^ Patapsco Valley State Park. So, along the Patapsco, not the Potomac.

    *googles*

Not in any areas of Maryland I'm familiar with, though I've been close by several times.

The photos of the ruins I mentioned are somewhere. I'm not sure where
