Kirk was aware that some of his
crew were watching him but
he tried not to care. He didn't
feel the need to prove
himself in front of any of his
crew. His service record showed
that he had a track record of
making decisions that, while risky, proved to
be quite constructive and beneficial for his
ship and crew. Noticing the accomplishments, Starfleet
tended to be more tolerant of his
antics. Just as long as he didn't
cost a lot of innocent lives or
cause an interstellar incident, Captain Kirk could
get away with many things that other
Captains would never have even dared try.
Throughout Starfleet history there'd been starship commanders
