Spock interrupted, saying, "I must agree with
Doctor McCoy in this instance, Captain. We
"Wait, Spock. You agree with me?"
McCoy only rarely got to experience the
thrill of seeing Jim dumbfounded. Kirk was
wondering why his first officer was suddenly
agreeing with McCoy. It happened once before,
not long after McCoy joined the crew
and the three of them were dining
together in the captain's quarters. They'd been
discussing the best course of action for
dealing with the threat from the Klingons
along the neutral zone. Spock was advising
that they be extremely careful and not
try anything that might antagonize the Klingons
into launching any preemptive attacks across the
quadrant, but all Kirk heard was 'attack'
and so he ordered Sulu to arm
all weapons and head on into the
Klingon Neutral Zone to scan for any
