the bowl and chucked the milk at
the wall as hard as he could.
With the helm console ruined the Enterprise
lurched to starboard and headed toward a
singularity. The Salmon promptly steered the ship
back into a safer trajectory, demonstrating that
even fish were better drivers than Sulu.
Kirk soon realized that the Enterprise would
need a replacement helmsman so he hired
the Salmon to helm the ship when
Sulu was off duty. The salmon proved
that it didn't get drunk as often
and it required less naps per day
so the Captain was more willing to
consider promoting it to chief helmsman. Sulu
protested but Kirk got tired of listening
