The numbers on the Dalton contract actually aren't bad. He gets $17 million guaranteed this year, but only $7 million more next year. Everything else is tied up in performance incentives, except for the playoff-related $19 million, which is going to come down to a lot more than just him. It's honestly a pretty decent deal for both sides. Basically, if he turns into a superstar, they have him locked up, but if he shits the bed, they can cut him after one year with a minimal penalty to the team.
