Christopher, David, thanks for the quick reply. I've been wanting to read Rise Like Lions, but I'll track down the anthologies first, and the expanded Sorrows... Should be more fun that way.

AFAIK, the only ship names that have been used for NXes in both universes are Enterprise and Avenger.

If I may ask, David, do you have a specific name in mind for the events of this book like Terran War of Independence or Omega Revolution?

    Fantastic novel, by the way.

I've always thought of it first as “The Terran Rebellion” and later as “The Terran Revolution.” Which was why it was so big a deal when the resulting political entity expunged the word "Terran" from its name to become the all-welcoming Galactic Commonwealth.

Glad you enjoyed the book! :)

I've thought "Terran Rebellion" too, but it bugged me a lot that the rebel organization also referred to itself as "Terran Rebellion" and the term "Terran Resistance Forces" from "The Emperor's New Cloak" was never used it again.

I wasn't too keen on how a particular character was killed, their head was blown off by a phaser. It seemed a little brutal, even for the ST mirror universe.

I got Rise Like Lions out of the library since it was mentioned int he Disavowed thread. I couldn't put it down (luckily my daughter was at her science club and my son was happily playing by himself), I reckon it's the best Trek novel I have read in a long time.

And I can vouch for David Mack's ability to put all the relevant references into the story because I haven't read any of the other MU novels and I didn't have any problems.

David, any chance of you writing more New Frontier? (or are there other NF stories already that you have written? ) - I'd love to read more of Calhoun and his crew written in your style. The Excalibur parts of Rise Like Lions were wonderful.

My only other contribution to Peter David's ongoing New Frontier saga was my Zak kebron short story "Waiting for G'Doh, or, How I Learned to Stop Moving and Hate People" in the anthology No Limits.

The work I did in Rise Like Lions with the Mirror Universe versions of his characters was something about which I spoke with Peter before I wrote the book. Not sure I'd go out of my way to use those characters again, but I wouldn't mind revisiting their tales of adventure in the MU.

Thanks for your kind words — glad you enjoyed RLL!

David, did it take you a long time to come up with all the chapter titles?

A little while. Some came easily during the writing of the manuscript, others required a bit more reflection and were filled in at the end.

This is probably my most favorite Star Trek title.

    Ditto.

I know David Mack is known for his action / drama, high stakes kind of stories, but since reading that story I've wanted him to write a pure comedy romp. It'd be hilarious.

Maybe I'll try to get Michael Dorn and Armin Shimerman to record the audio of my favorite Worf/Quark moment from my "lost" DS9 story pitch and then hire someone to animate it. That would be a hoot.

It sounded like a goddamn riot when you were talking about it at Shore Leave. And Michael Dorn always had surprisingly great comic timing.

    I'd buy that! :)
