Yeah, most of the stuff I read seemed to be dismissing Jane as a possibility pretty quickly.

The series itself apparently dismissed her as a possibility in, I think, issue #6, when Thor goes to talk to Jane.

I had a gut feeling it was going to be Jane. Especially after she took a turn for the worse and making that comment that Magic always has a price.

it was either Roz or Jane. Roz was the most likely. but i always thought it was odd that Jane and her situation was thrown in almost as an afterthought in the previous volume.

Right her attitude towards dealing with the cancer stuck out like a sore thumb especially since she was a major Thor MCU character.

Star Wars #5 another great issue. I thought 4 was too interim but this got exciting again. Something thrilling about seeing Boba Fett in the Mos Eisley Cantina, and more classic Han/Leia bickering.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I just read Ultimate End #1 and I am insanely confused. In Secret Wars #2 we saw a world where Doom is the all knowing god that rules over everything and no-one is their original selves, they're alt-versions of themselves.

In this issue, apparently the original Ultimate characters and the original Marvel characters are living side by side in New York City. And this has been going on for awhile it seems. Also there something about Ultimate Iron Man being the cause of the dimensional rifts? Where did that come from? And where is Miles Morales? That was 616-Peter in the suit right? I'm so lost  I stopped reading the Ultimate comics a long time ago so maybe that's why... but it just seems completely contradictory with the world established in Secret Wars #2.

Also, I thought this mini series was going to flesh out the 616 vs Ultimate fight in Secret Wars #1? So that's really all we're going to get of that fight? It was so rushed in that issue and most of the characters were absent...

    EDIT:

Okay, I just read A-Force #1 and it was a good issue but I am further confused. Are these the "real" characters? Is that the real She-Hulk? Because there was a Jean Grey Phoenix in the background. If all of these are alt-characters then it doesn't feel important to me. Are only the characters in the Manhattan province "our" characters? And everyone else isn't real? But clearly the Doom in Secret Wars #2 is the true original Doom who became God.

^ The Ultimate End version of Manhattan apparently has two Baxter Buildings, so it appears to be a collision of the Manhattans from the final two universes, with everyone retaining their memories.

Re. A-Force, it seems to be largely 616 characters with altered histories/memories. The female version of Loki appears to be the one that turned up in the current issue of Loki: Agent Of Asgard (which might mean that she's an incarnation of the 616 Loki), but she now has a history as "Ms" America's foster parent. The Jean Grey Phoenix lookalike could easily be Hope, in my opinion.

(Edit: I think the issue with Ultimate Iron Man and the dimensional rift has to do with the Spider-Men crossover from a while back.)

I vaguely remember that from "Spider-Men" but they were talking like it was cause of the multi-versal crisis.

Am I the only one that's really disappointed when a major story like this doesn't star the actual main continuity characters? I don't like what-if stories...

No they have made this way more confusing than it needs to be - this is the merging of two realms on battleearth that *resemble* the pre-battleworld earths - none of the characters remember anything before that - go back and read it - all they remember is a universe where Doom has always been god.

This is also why the Thor corp show up at the end before they have broken Doom's law.

OK, with Secret Wars 3, I finally have an idea of what's going on. We finally get some follow-up on the arc with the 616 heroes on it and some recognizable story elements from "before" to connect to. I'm not presently planning on buying any of the crossovers (except Silver Surfer) so I've been a bit lost up to this point. I've been afraid that the finale of Hickman's grand tale would be the victim of being an event, all of which seem to fall flat. But as of issue 3, I think I'm on board.

ETA: Oh! And I can't believe that they...
    ...revealed what's beneath Doom's mask.

Had they never done that before? I guess we'll be seeing that a bit more in future, then.

This Doom seems kind of sympathetic and humble, possibly because he has nothing left to prove and nobody to prove it to. I wonder where Hickman is going with this and if Doom will have a hand in jumpstarting the new Marvel Universe.

They have absolutely shown Doom's face many times over the decades. I don't remember specifically where but they must have.

Secret Wars #3 was good, and thank god we're seeing "real" characters entering the story. But I still want to know what the hell happened to the Ivory Kings! That's what the damn story is about!

No, I'm pretty sure that this is a first.

i don't think its ever been shown full on before. usually if Doom removes his mask they obscure part of it in shadow.

Doom's face has been shown many times, but only in its un-scarred state, either in flashbacks to before the accident or when he fixed himself during Secret Wars.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

And then he's fixed it and still ####ed it up again.

In the first Secret War, after he'd eaten the Beyonders infinite powers, Doom's own self loathing manifested as ultimate power and pushed the probabilities create a ridiculous series of events where he got beat and the heroes won, so that he could go back to being a "regular, normal" man on the street.

I see something similar happening here.

Doom is a tree, and every story I've read in his perfect universe, is about this Latvarian's worst enemies the Super heroes of America having a good time, or fighting the good fight.

Of course some readings of Doom, says that he is a superhero and to some degree sees all the other superheroes (except Squirrel Girl.) as his peers who all together defend the Earth.

Nepotism and such, who the hell are Dooms friends? He's just taken over the universe and he's got no buddies to set up as barons and rich buggers? Isn't that sad?

I can't believe they've never shown his face before. I have such a distinct memory of it. Maybe I'm just thinking of when artists choose to show the scarred skin around his eyes...

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The accident at highschool gave him a tiny scar, but because he was so vain Victor thought his face was ruined. It was later putting the burning hot metal face plate on that the monks on the mountain made for him, because only lesser fools do not seize the moment, that he turned his complexion into porridge.

Part of the Superior Foes of Spider-Man was about ongoing shennigans to uncover/recover/steal a portrait of Doom with his mask off. That book was hilarious.

Again in Secret Wars, he fixed his face with cosmic powers, which was on the cover, and he is walking around with no mask on. That might be what you are remembering?

Of course if Time Runs Out is to be belived, %99 of what we know about Doom has been Doombots who were left home alone. Which is something that's been said from time too time over the decades, and that now for reals, the original true Doom has finally returned.
