    Damn.

Seriously, though, I'll have to find a way to try it. It looks delicious!

Checking Amazon, it looks like they sell it (though they call it "gjetost"), and the price isn't too bad. I might have to get some. :D
Though apparently it's high in fat and sugar, so it will have to be consumed in very small amounts.

Do you like goat's cheese? It's very mild but definitely has that tang under all the caramel notes. Buy some ryvita and have it thin, very lovely.

Sounds evil. Though I did laugh at this (my bad):

My fridge is particularly pungent at the moment due to a rather nice ripe stilton.

Geez I wish I could just pop over and give you a hunk and some nice crackers.

And no, I don't mean that kind of hunk

Dinner. Longans I've peeled, rye crackers and hard white goat's cheese.

    Cost, about 4.50.

I wanted to post a pic of my dinner last night in true facebook self absorbed tradition but no one had posted in the thread and I didn't want to post 3 times in a row. Then I started thinking, why don't I nag the thread to start posting pics of their own vegetarian food, whether it's a veg chillie or a sandwich or a salad or..

So. DO IT. I want to see other people's food.

    :)

It's totally not true what they say, you DO make friends with salad.

Next time I have dinner, I'll give it a shot. *boom* *tish*

I just got a call from my doctor's office. Since my blood glucose is still hovering around the 180/200 mark, they're doubling up my Metformin (I currently take two 500mg capsules a day at supper) per day, and instead of the Tradjenta, they're going to have me take Januvia, though I'm not certain at what dosage. My doctor feels that the Januvia will quickly lower my A1C (which is 9.6) over the next six months or so, and then we can see if a simpler diabetes medication can take it from there.

Other than that, I'm to continue on course with what I'm doing.

I do lots of cooking for other people but my own preferences are more about assembling than cooking.

Behold my time for Game of Thrones dinner:

Which I will now consume with some cider while watching GoT.

I like matching food with what I'm eating. You don't watch Game of Thrones and eat Pad Thai

^OMG! I thought I was insane because I totally do that (match food to what I'm reading or watching).

Once my mom, best friend, and I planned a Dexter marathon, and chose our meal carefully -- it was Dexter and spaghetti and meatballs night!

You got it. Even if it is just a salad. A big and fabulous salad, though! I went to the farmer's market today, and among other things I got my favorite tomato lady's tomatoes (they're better than candy). So here is dinner: kale, sunflower and broccoli sprouts, celery, and green onions, chickpeas and a mushroom lightly sauteed in garlic and olive oil, an avocado quarter, and homemade salad dressing (just a bit of tahini, vinegar, and lemon). It's a highish amount of fat for one meal, but I've doubled my strength and bike training this past week, and I'm fucking hungry.

OH wow that looks great.. I'm drooling over the yellow tomatoes! And I've never heard of broccoli sprouts!

Interesting you say it's high fat, wouldn't it still be lower than a big mac or some other thing people eat without thinking twice? Is it the avocado that does it?

Right now I'm eating pita bread with hummous and radish slices and drinking yunnan tea. Can't take a photo because I've eaten most of it.

As to matching food with books etc.. when I was reading Game of Thrones I lived on rye bread (like the one in the photo) with hard cheese on it and watered down red wine. You know, for the long trek across Westeros. If the rye had gone a bit hard and stale so much the better. When I was a teenage LOTR geek I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect lembas substitute

^I love it! One thing I've noticed is the power of books to make foods that would otherwise sound not so pleasant (or even downright disgusting) to me sound delicious. Like stale rye bread!

It's high in fat from the tahini, olive oil, and avocado -- usually if I saute in oil I'll use a lighter dressing -- but, yeah, it's definitely not as bad as a McBurger and fries. The sprouts are great, and I just discovered them myself. They have broccoli, sunflower, kale ... all sorts. I like the kale sprouts because they're lime green with beet red stems. The sunflower sprouts I tried for the first time last night, and they're the most bitter and grassy, but nice in small doses. The broccoli sprouts were similar to alfalfa sprouts in flavor. I also like the tang of clover sprouts.
