Well, maybe they're pointing and laughing. But they're certainly bothered that they don't control the film rights to Spider-Man, the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Haven't we sufficiently debunked this silly objection by now? Haven't we demonstrated adequately that it's commonplace for actors to train extensively and put on muscle when they're hired to play action protagonists? Isn't it obvious at this point that Gadot is going to train heavily for this role, just as Antje Traue trained for Faora, just as Christopher Reeve trained for Superman, just as Christian Bale repeatedly trained for Batman? And since anyone who's paying the slightest bit of attention must know by this point that this objection is total nonsense, aren't you just gratuitously and deliberately insulting this woman out of sheer rudeness now?

Please, everyone, just stop being so damn insulting. I get so sick of online fans and the way they think the proper response to any casting news is to attack, insult, condemn, and demonize the new performer as much as possible. It's twisted fandom into something deeply ugly and hateful and I just get more and more ashamed to be associated with it.

No, but we have demonstrated adequately that a facetious two line-post from me can spark a way-too-serious tirade from you.... :p

Anything can get a way-too-serious tirade out of Christopher. Still, he is 100% right.

yeah, she's either the daughter of a God or statue brought to life and given godlike powers. Her build is irrelevant to her strength.

Stealing Hippolyta's girdle was one of Heracles' labors. Girdle in that context is just a belt. Never heard of Wonder Woman's girdle as the source of her strength.

He might be right if the post had been directed towards other parties. He's not right about me, since my post had nothing behind it resembling the malicious intent that he ascribed to it.

Yeah as a huge fan of MOS, I have to admit my enthusiasm dipped quite a bit with the announcement of Affleck (not because I'm an Affleck hater, but just because he seemed far from the ideal choice), but now the idea of actually getting to see the Big Three on the big screen together is suddenly making me much more excited again.

Although it does still seem far too early to introduce even more superheroes to this world than those. I'd hate for the MOS sequel to be so packed with costumed heroes and supervillains that it ceases to feel like the grounded, down-to-earth world of the first movie and becomes just another insulated, Avengers-style comic book world. Where all the characters seemingly do is spend their time interacting or fighting with other superheroes.

I really hope that doesn't happen here. At least not until a proper JL film where that thing is kind of expected.

Winded? The woman was a soldier and sports trainer, why would she get winded? Long distance runners are pretty thin. They're noted for their endurance.

I keep hearing people say Faora's actress trained for the part. I've seen sources that confirm that, but it seemed like a waste of time for her. She wore a bulky suit for 99% of her screen time, and as far as I could tell she was no more fit than Lois. If she was training she probably was, but its not like you could tell in the suit, and its not like she did any partcularly athletic stunts, it was all CG stuff.

Gadot could train for years and still be too small. She's a model, and she's there for eye candy. If she's a good actress that will just be a bonus to the studio. Training or not, she's always going to look like a stiff breeze could knock her senseless. She's just too scrawny to be WW, and no amount of training will fix that.

After seeing some clips of her, I'm not quite sure of her ability to act either, but that could still go either way. Regardless, this casting just sucks, and even if she can act, she could never be a good WW. Its like if they had gone insane and cast Seth Green as Superman. He could train for a decade, he'd still not work. Doesn't mean he's a bad actor, it just means there is no training or trick photography that could make him convincing in the role, and I think Gadot is in the same situation.

I hope Snyder shoots this film in color, the first one was so gray...

Post proof or retract. There have been many examples of actor/actresses bulking up or slimming down to fit roles, some of them in this very thread.

Why not just call this what it is? Your standard preconceived hate for something you haven't seen. You've certainly established it in every thread about an upcoming movie you've ever entered.

For once why don't you wait to see a movie before you condemn it.

I'm not too concerned. I assume the director asked her to gain weight (muscle) for the film, and that she agreed to do so. The fact that she's 5'9" is more important. Wonder Woman should be taller than average. I remember when some fans here were suggesting much shorter actresses for the role of WW. Megan Fox, anyone?

Ok, I wasn't even condemning the movie itself in that post, I was condemning a casting choice. I mean, MoS was solidly mediocre, and Goyer has proved to have an inability to write good DC superhero movies. I doubt I'll like SM/Batman, but I'll admit it may reach average if Goyer steps up his game. Still, we're not talking about the overall movie, we're talking about casting. This woman would need to gain 50 lbs of muscle to be the size of Amy Adams :vulcan: She's about -50% body fat at this point, she's officially in the category of "scary" skinny. Even if she didn't need about 6 inches in height, she's not going to "bulk up" to Wonder Woman. She may "bulk up" to Anne Hathaway, if she puts in a lot of effort. I don't know what "evidence" to give outside of just looking at pictures of her. She doesn't have a frame thats going to be putting on enough muscle bulk.

There is also the acting to think about. I saw some F&F clips of her. To be fair, it was awful material, but she wasn't exactly pulling it off very well.

Also, go look up my posts in the X-Men DOFP thread and the avengers 2 thread (and probably the Thor 2 and Winter Soldier threads, although I'm not 100% certain I've posted in them). They're all positive. The worst casting choice Marvel has made in their movie line is Scarlett Johanssen, and while she's a poor Black Widow (too short and very fragile looking) she's still a better choice for her character than Gadot is for WW. I have been wrong about one superhero movie. I thought MoS would be horrible, it turns out it was just mediocre. That's like hitting a single instead of a home run in baseball. I was off a bit, but the general attitude was right. DC will get no benefit of the doubt and an assumption that everything will be horrible for every movie with the names Goyer, Snyder and/or Nolan attached to it, and they deserve it.

That still has nothing to do with Gadot. You'll notice I haven't said anything about Affleck in threads. I'm willing to give him a chance. I actually liked him in Daredevil, and I think he can pull off Batman, and do it much better than Christian Bale. He's also over 6 feet tall and generally has a build that would work with a superhero, or at least be able to get to the right point fairly easily. Gadot has nothing positive going for her, and a lot of huge problems. When the person cast has so many blantant, obvious problems, its not something I'll ignore. Outside of joke casting someone ridiculous, I'd be hard pressed to think of a worse casting choice if you were even half seriously trying to cast WW. Maybe Mila Kunis would be worse and still be at least a partially serious choice, but outside of picking an even more obscure skinny model/actress like Gadot, she's about the bottom of the barrel for choices.

But, again, she's eye candy and they will probably have to pay her literally 1% of what Affleck and Cavil will be getting, so she's cheap and somewhat attractive, which is all the studio cares about.

The actors did a lot of wire work, sometimes against green screen and sometimes for motion capture. Doing a lot of wire work is physically onerous and requires a high degree of fitness and strength, so there were reasons for the fitness training beyond physical appearance on screen. The fitness training also included character work of how to move and fight in character.
Attractive actresses who can be paid relatively little are a dime a dozen. The studio would obviously look to cast someone they regard as capable of performing the role. It's an important film for them, and there's the potential prospect of Wonder Woman playing a prominent part in more films down the line, including perhaps a solo film.

Late to the party as I always am, I am now certain this movie will be a total clusterfuck with this casting. Gal Gadot is a beautiful woman but she is nowhere near what WW looks like. She'd have made a perfect Lois Lane or Lana Lang but nothing near WW. I'd have much preferred Bridget Reagan. She has the perfect look for WW. Oh well.

    This is spooky.

She's on the White Collar I am half way through watching and I just couldn't summon the strength to google her.

Thank you for googling her for me.
