RIKER: Aye, sir.
Picard and Troi enter the Ready room, Picard and Troi sit down on the couch.
Picard: I. er... don't know where to begin. It was...
TROI: I read your report.
Picard: What I didn't put in the report, was that at the end, he gave me a choice between a life of comfort or more torture. All I had to do was to say that I could see 5 lights, when in fact, there were only 4.
TROI: You didn't say it?
Picard: No, no, but I was going to. I would have told him anything. Anything at all. But more than that, I believed that I could see Five Lights.
Congrats. It was a pleasure working with you today LeadHead.
You as well Admiral Shran!
Well done guys. Congratulations.
The one thing that always stood out to me about this ep is that if you look at the way all the shots of Madred are framed and lit, you almost get the sense that there could be a fifth light that was always just out of camera range.
Congratulations, guys! I've been busy this weekend doing Easter stuff with the family, but I will get the randomizer going tomorrow and get us off on our next adventure.
In the meantime, Happy Easter everyone!
That's what I've always thought as well. I thought it would have been even more powerful for the camera to pan up to reveal that Madred had installed a fifth light in order to make Picard believe he was seeing a light that wasn't really there.
It would have made Madred all the more evil. We, the audience, would know that there really were five lights. However, at the end of the episode, Picard would have believed that he had been broken when he really hadn't.
The participants from our current thread are as follows:
2. Admiral Shran
4. Vulcan Princess
Those names should be in the order in which each person first posted to the thread. No "weight" is given for who posted more or less often. Special thanks to LeadHead for compiling the list!
(If anyone has been inadvertently left off the list of participants, please let me know and I'll try to make it up on the next go-around.)
And now, it's time for random.org to do it's magic...
So, Ziz, the next move is yours. Would you like to select the next episode we are going to do line-by-line? You are free to select the next episode or pass and I will re-run the randomization. Once a new episode has been chosen, I will fire up the next line-by-line thread in the appropriate forum and post the link here.
NOTE: As has been agreed, when a person is selected as the "chooser," they will have 48 hours to post their selection. After 48 hours, I will assume they "pass" and will re-run the randomization.
Cool! I didn't miss my shot this time. It's 8AM right now and I need to get out of here in a few minutes. I'll be back with my episode choice tonight.
OK, let's go with ENT: In A Mirror, Darkly!
Ah, one of the few of my favorite Enterprise episodes.
Great, you're gonna drag me to an Enterprise episode again.
I'll get it going tomorrow.
Tomorrow was yesterday.
When's the new thread start?
CoveTom's usually been pretty slow on starting the Enterprise episodes. I'll give him till the end of the evening, then risk the wrath and start it.
