Interesting, that certainly wasn't the vibe I got from Immortal Coil back in the day. I was picturing someone more along the lines of Bryce Dallas Howard or someone like a modern day Maureen O'Hara.

On another note, how about Maury Chaykin for Ganz?

One of my favorite Jennifer Hale voices was Naomi Hunter in Metal Gear Solid 1 and 4, she was awesome in there! I wonder who she'd fit in a live-action Star Trek movie?

Ezekiel Fisher=I agree with Mr. Mack's choice-Morgan Freeman. I'd like to pitch in by suggesting Courtney B. Vance (Jonesy from The Hunt For Red October) as M'Benga.

^Well, of course the original M'Benga was played by Booker Bradshaw. I don't think Vance bears much resemblance to him at all. He reminds me more of, ohh, maybe Carl Lumbly?

Carl Lumbly, I like that, too!

    Yes! That's the guy who's name I couldn't remember.

I can actually see that working quite nicely.

Wayne Brady would also work quite well.

Even aside from the fact that Goodwin is the wrong ethnicity, I don't think she'd work very well at all.

    ^ How about Karen Maruyama?

(I'm on a Whose Line kick right about now... )

Well, aside from being twice T'Ryssa's age, Maruyama might've been a decent choice, from what I can recall of her.

Wow, I just looked her up on Wikipedia, and I didn't realize just how much great stuff she's done over the years.

Was just going through the thread from the beginning and found this:

Since the question only ever had one or two responses, I thought I'd bring it up.

My choice for Ael has always been unequivocally Mira Furlan.

The others, I'm honestly not sure about the voices yet.

For other Rihannsu readers, how about Arrahe?

Is there anywhere i can get some phonetic pronunciations of the various Rihannsu characters?

Considering the preponderance of Rihannsu-based fan sites, I'm sure there's something out there. I couldn't tell you where, but Google probably could.

Alternatively, you could ask Diane Duane herself via her blog. :)

I just had a thought for Naraht's voice: Pablo Francisco, the comedian, doing his 'Movie Preview' voice.

I would have suggested Don LaFontaine himself but unfortunately he passed away several years ago :(

Okay, I think I've settled on CCH Pounder for Asarem Wadeen.

Okay, I suppose this one is rather obvious, but it only just occurred to me. Liam Hemsworth as Peter Kirk in Sarek.

Unless he might be too young, as I recall Peter was supposed to be older than the average cadet at the time of that novel...

Well, Sarek is set in 2293, about 26 years after "Operation: Annihilate," so Peter would've been around 38 or so at the time. According to Wikipedia, Liam Hemsworth is only 23.

Christopher, he's Chris Hemworth's brother. That was why it came to mind.

I know Peter's age was explicitly mentioned in Sarek, but it's been too long since I read it and I don't have access to my collection at the moment. I could've sworn the book said he was 28 either at the time or when he joined the Academy, but that would've only made him about 2 in "Operation: Annihilate!" so that doesn't make any sense...

Yes, I guessed that even before I looked him up. If you propose someone named Hemsworth to play a relative of George Kirk, it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out why.

(And I thought I'd never heard of him, but then I saw he was Gale in The Hunger Games, which I have seen.)

It says he was 7 when he lost his parents and is 32 at the time of the book. A bit of a retcon, but I guess O:A never really specified how old Peter was supposed to be. I based my estimate of Peter's age on the actor's age at the time.
