Got a question, Does anyone know if the font used in caprica is custom or an established font i can get somewhere. I'm going to be working on a new Caprica site (caprica.tv & Capricabbs.com) soon so gut looking for the font. Even if the 'A 'does not have the slice (since i can add that) in it and it's something very close, that will work.

Doesn't look custom, pretty generic font with a couple of simple effects tossed on it.

Though ya, the slashes in the As make it stand out a bit.

I just posted an answer to a similar question on the Syfy forums, but as this seems to be the only other place it's been asked, I'm posting here as well!

I've identified the Caprica font as ITC Elan™, heavily modified.

This is the word "Caprica", rendered in Elan:

And rendered in Elan, then modified by me:

And the official logo for the show:

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

How did you get the "A" to look like that, in the modified version? It seems as though there is a wider bottom white area, on the top opening of the "A" of the native version, than in the modified version. Did you have to cut up the "A" and then re-paste it to do this?

It looks pretty simple if you have photoshop, simply bevel the text layer and then use the manual eraser tool to cut out that part of the A. I just need that font, wink, wink.

Oh, it only costs $ 777,-. Not too shabby for a good font. ;)

BolianAdmiral - The modifications were made in Illustrator. You're right, though, the crossbar of the A has been shunted up in the Caprica logo, but in a program like AI or FreeHand, you can easily use the knife tool to break the bar, delete it, then replace it with a new bar, closer to the apex. The left and right strokes of the A had to be adjusted also, as in Elan they taper upwards to give the letter balance when you go to print.

Since we're on the subject of fonts... would anybody know what font is in the image below? I'm trying to find it, but for the life of me, can't remember the name of it.

It's Bank Gothic Medium. (I ran an HD screencap through What The Font? to find out.)
