I have no idea what's going on, if anything, so I'm just spitballing here but maybe they will make another series from the ashes of this one. Reuse the same resources and personnel but in a new direction. That way Disney can hope to keep the audience for that type of show but have something with more legs than a sixth season and let's them tweak the program to their sensibilities.

Thanks for the link. Assuming the series isn't canceled outright (and, really, why would that happen with so much already invested in Season Six?), the article seems prescient.

If it is over, at least it went out on a hell of a good note.

I call BS right now. The only non-news sites I trust when it comes to Star Wars are TheForce.Net and the official Star Wars website, and TFN doesn't have anything on its site about this. I know, because I looked.

IGN doesn't have anything on this on its site either.

Maybe if there's enough rumors brewing they'll be compelled to explain the actual situation which would be good.

Well, if it really is cancelled, it sure would be Disney getting off on the wrong foot with the franchise fans. I'm no prequel fan, but isn't there room for all eras?

How many seasons can a show tat takes place in between two movies go on for? I don't remember the time gap between Episodes 2 and 3 but it can't be forever.

It's more of a focus strewn about the universe... not all the main characters are followed at once. This year we went several episodes in a row without seeing Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, etc.

This is most likely bullshit from a site attempting to get hits. TheForce.Net has not posted anything about this since the date this was posted, Ashley Ecstein did an interview sometime last week revealing that Ahsoka's story would continue. We already know that the show is moving to Disney XD next season as revealed in the season five thread, so yeah I wouldn't worry about this "report".

I'm with cooleddie74. JediNewsUK is pretty reputable; this news is probably true "from a certain point of view" at the very least.

I guess the soonest we will find out if this is real or not will be later today. Dark Horse is supposed to be making a big announcement regarding Star Wars sometime this week...so maybe the two are possibly interconnected?

It's like I stated elsewhere. "Been cancelled" could also mean that Cartoon Network has ended its affiliation with the program and is jettisoning it like an escape pod, but if a few other episodes are being made they could show up on DVD and BluRay, online as downloadable content or even pop up on a channel like Disney XD. Other television series over the decades were cancelled by one network due to dropping ratings but then picked up by another one....Taxi, Diff'rent Strokes, In the Heat of the Night to name just three.

JediNews rarely posts bad information, so if they heard something from multiple sources connected to the show then there's probably some level of truth to this. I just hope we get a lot more details and very soon so the mystery will be put to rest.

Lucasfilm has released a statement. It has been cancelled... sort of.

Ok, so there will be more Clone Wars, just not on Cartoon Network. And the way they worded it seems to imply that future TCW won't merely be a new season on another network. Direct to DVD/Blu-ray? Online?

And here's the video from the link, featuring a scene from post-season 5 TCW:

That tease of Order 66 was awesome. I'm assuming this just means that the show will be ending next season and as previously reported, moving to Disney XD.

I'm starting to get the distinct feeling that many people didn't actually bother to read the SW.Com bulletin or listen to/watch Dave Filoni's video statement. The series has by no means been cancelled; it's merely come to an end in its current format. Had it actually been cancelled, all production would be immediately halted and any finished material would be jettisoned as quickly as possible, but Filoni's statement makes it pretty clear that that's not what's happening.

Wasn't the idea of this happening tossed around in the wake of the Disney buyout?
I thought I recalled someone floating the idea based on the fact that when Disney bought Marvel that Spectacular Spiderman along with Wolverine&The X-Men were both cancelled.
Something about Disney wanting to take inventory and get things under a general quality control or at least approval process?

I really wish people would quit bandying the word 'cancelled' about, because, as I've already pointed out, TCW has not been cancelled. Dave Filoni makes it pretty clear that he and his team are continuing to actively produce content related to the series, but had it actually been cancelled, that would not be the case; all production would be immediately halted, and anything that had already been finished would be jettisoned as quickly as possible.

For legal reasons, maybe they have to completely change the format away from anything resembling something owned by Time Warner.

Maybe a couple of Disney Channel movies.

Yet, according to the cast, it has indeed been canceled.

A show can still be considered "cancelled", even if there's still enough material in the pipeline for further episodes. Which is what is clearly happening here.
