Actually, I hope you're right. Just for the last 3 days I've had a 102 degree fever, and so my 'visions' such as they are have been about BSG. That sort of fell into my head.

why the frak does everyone think Kara's dad is 'Daniel'?
there's no evidence to support this . . . and the most RDM said about Daniel in No Exit's podcast was that he has some role to play in Caprica

her father's name was Dreilide, and we still have no idea how her past and destiny tie into the mythology . . .

They think Daniel was her because a) Starbuck is obviously something weird, and her being a human/Cylon hybrid would go a long way to explaining what is up with her, b) Ellen said Daniel was an artist. That's all we're really got to go on. I'm still sustaining reservations.

There is plenty of evidence to support this, this episode went 80% of the way towards confirming it.

Daniel was an artist, Dreilide was an artist. Anders wrote Watchtower while on Earth, Dreilide (one of Ander's "children") knows Watchtower and taught it to Kara as a child. Hera knows the notes of Watchtower, that suggests a connection between her and Kara; they're both hybrids. Kara was reborn somehow, possibly using some sort of Cylon resurrection technology. Leoben knows that Kara is special and has a destiny, perhaps a subconscious understanding of Kara's relation to the rest of the Cylons.

Finally, if Dreilide is Daniel then a quiet character moment from the beginning of season 2 will actually have been one of the most important scenes of the whole show. It would tie things together brilliantly, so maybe there is some wishful thinking going on.

Plus, Tigh being Kara's "grandfather" would be incredibly rich. ;)

Indeed; the Colonials and Cylons make the Corleone family look like the Cleavers.

No, I was being completely serious. Didn't get it at all. :rommie:

  7. Love the Watchtower reveal scene. It's a really dramatic moment, the way the loud notes pop in at just the right time and you see the Cylons recognize it. Tigh's reaction is just fantastic.

I suspected that Slick might be her father somehow (though him being a 'HeadFather' for some reason didn't occur to me), but I also thought that maybe it was just a dramatic parallel, she's meeting someone just like her father who will make her come to terms with her actual dad, as that's the sort of thing the writers like to do.

You're not alone. I myself was too caught up in the episode to have thought about it. And based on the promos, I thought it would've been too oobvious.

I think he's referring to Kara and Helo's pitstop in Kara's apartment in 'Valley of Darkness'

    That was my guess, too.

It would have been awesome if the song she played in that episode had been "All Along the Watchtower."

I sure hope we are not headed in that direction.

I would prefer a Shakespeare style tragic ending to the whole series.

A sick and twisted part of me still wishes the music that had triggered the final 5 had been lifted from the original GALACTICA pilot's disco number, the one that went something like this (feel free to imagine the exec and the others doing one line each of this ditty):

it don't matter where you go
it don't matter what you do
    cuz something's always after you

    it's love love love
it's love love love love love love love

singed into my hindbrain over 30 yrs later (sigh)

For some reason his "What the frak!!!" had me laughing my ass off!
    Pure Tigh!

I kind of like how even though we know there are only 4 episodes left, the characters don't. You can sense dismal hopeless long rut they think they are headed into and only we know that events will start crashing in from all sides soon.

Really? Why would Kara's dad know a song that Sam Anders had played 2,000 years prior on Earth? Who taught it to him, and why did he pass it on to Kara? And why was that very song the trigger that awakened the FF? The song is a map. Watch Dreilide's face as Kara slowly starts to remember, look at his eyes. There's some serious shit going on...

Yup, that's the one I was talking about. :techman: Just think, if somebody was watching this show without knowing that the writers were pulling it all out of their asses, and Daniel does end up being Kara's dad, then they might just think that scene was a clever piece of foreshadowing. ;)

Ah, very true. I have a feeling that this show has a chance to become even more revered than it already is (unless the finale ruins everything) once it's off the air and people discover it on DVD. The inside information that many of us know now (i.e. that the writers have been pulling things out of their asses, etc) will likely fade away.

Yup, I think it's a map that has been passed on for longer than anybody actually realizes, maybe from the first Cylons created on Kobol (who IMO are the Virtuals) and if not from that time, either a time before Kobol, a map to Earth qua Earth as we know it to be, the place where all of mankind originated.

I also don't think Cavil is really all that interested in finding the Colonists and eliminating them. They're lost in space as far as he's concerned, so he can just leave them there to rot on their own. He's more concerned with finding resurrection technology again. IMO, what'll happen is that both sides will finally figure out that they have a map to someplace else, "Earth 2" if you will. Cavil will go there to hopefully find resurrection technology, trading on it being an outpost of the 13th tribe that he can either take over with his assault force or play friendly with in order to gain their assistance. The Colonists will go there to find a place to live. Their meeting will be an accident, although I think the Colonists will be prepared to face Cavil since they have the advantage of knowing that both the song and the picture corresponding to its notes are the same map in different forms. The Cylons don't know about the song, so they won't be expecting the Colonists to show up.

Since we've not yet heard anybody say, "Go back to where you came from!" (have we?), I also guess that there's something on that planet or outpost that neither party will expect to find, one that will finally force them into a settled peace, unless the Centurions themselves rise up and put an end to it. We'll get our epic battle, but I'll bet we get one of those "Organian interference" endings.

What were you waiting for, for Starbuck to start singing the lyrics to the song with the first verse being "My dad is secretly a Cylon skinjob"?
