This is fantastic. I've waited forever to see a live-action Mister Arex (still hoping for STXII!).

Is he fully CG? Looks like a guy under there. My only complaints are that his neck is too human (it's meant to be really thin with a bend in it) and his head isn't boxy enough.

Don't think I'm just bitching, I realize the limitations of a fan-made series and don't mean any disrespect. I'm just a lifelong Mr Arex fan with my own ideas what he'd look like in the flesh :)

I wonder if they're gonna use the original TAS bio, or maybe Peter David's New Frontier "Triexian" background?

Can't wait to see him walk across the bridge. That'll be a sight!

    Awesome!!

It's hard to draw any definitive conclusions from one picture, but it looks like the Phase II folks have nailed it. Arex looks so real! It would have been so easy to fall into the Jar-Jar trap here, but it looks as though they've deftly avoided it. Amazing work, as usual!

It is an amazing effect. My issues are not with Phase II, but with The Animated Series. The size of the skull is too small for an intelligent being in biology as we know it. However, there is no reason that these critters can't have two brains, perhaps one in a different part of the body that does the 'thinking' and one in the head to process hearing, sight, sound, and coordinates the use of arms and muscles and other senses. Humans have a second 'brain' as large as that of many other critters... in our stomachs. It is the source of our 'gut' feelings. Perhaps these folk have 'gut' thinking and head feelings?

An alien brain could be much smaller and denser (no pun imtended) than a human's, while being at least as smart. We've had smart clouds in Trek for crying out loud!

And most guys' second brain is a little lower than the stomach...

Brain size is not necessarily indicative of intelligence.

Skull and brain size certainly aren't any indication of intelligence. Racoons have far greater intelligence than say cattle in general despite being far smaller in terms of cranial capacity and brain size. It's not what you've got; it's how you use it. ;)

In regards to the effect, it looks pretty darn good. I'd've given him a more pronounced eyebrow like the animated Edoans have, but it's certainly intriguing.

Will this set back productions of the episodes, though, since bridge scenes with Arex would have to be CGIed?

Now for the question all the fanboys desperately want an answer to: When do we get to see M'Ress?

Now, if they could bring in Lt. M'Ress I would love that.

Very cool. It'll be interesting to see him shake hands with someone else in the crew...

We're working on a scene where he dances, juggles, plays the guitar, and does close-up sleight-of-hand tricks. It's an important plot point.

While brain size doesn't correlate with intelligence, the ratio of brain size to mass does. :)

That looks really nice. The nose and brow area are obviously different, the neck thicker, but its' an interesting adaptation of the original design. And are those ears (of a sort) on the bony projections on the sides of his head?

I really appreciate the effort put into bringing the character to life after so long. That's something I never thought I'd see. Look forward to seeing more and hearing how Chris Doohan's performance compares to his father's.
