Besides, I'm sure there are still plenty of old people who don't know how to turn on a computer. My grandma still follows the instructions I wrote for her 5 years ago to play a DVD.

^ To be fair, sometimes the power button for a computer can be hard to find. Either it's hidden on the back panel somewhere, or it's a tiny piece that is easily overlooked.

Same for my aunt, who still uses that illustrated step by step I made for her so she could get to her "cards" (she likes solitaire).

A lot of better models like to make the power button fit in with the style of the PC. Macs are real big on that, too, at least the iMacs were.

Having worked for Dell's phone support in the past, I am sad to inform everybody that there are indeed people that do not understand the concept of the power button. :(

Indeed. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't realize that the circle with the line sticking out the top is the "power button" symbol.

The power button is on the back of the iMac (at least the ones now sold) and is absolutely flush with the case, which may be a reason why some people can't find it. Don't know about the laptops or the Mac Pros.

MacBook power buttons are on the righthand corner above the Function keys. It's flush with the casing, but it's easy to find.

At least we're well beyond the days of people thinking that the CD tray (remember those? ) is a cup holder...

I wouldn't say well beyond. The last CD/DVD cupholder troubleshooting incident I had was only two years ago.

Upon seeing it, I thought it was Veronica Belmont from the Tekzilla podcasts, and a Google Image Search confirmed it.

Oh and Q2UnME, she has a message for you: [IMG]
