TrekMovie.com have published a report that the official DVD/Blu-Ray release for "Star Trek" will come on November 17th.

Apparently there will be three seperate releases.
    1 Disc DVD
    2 Disc DVD
    3 Disc Blu-Ray

Details on some of the features here:

Doesn't look like the deleted scenes will be integrated into the film in any way as such an "extra" is usually prominently announced when it does happen. I'm fine with that, but I suspect many will be disappointed.

Aww... I was hoping for "turn off lens flare" in the special features.

You're not surprised that I'm not disappointed or you're not surprised that the scenes will like not be available in some sort of "extended cut"?

(I presume the latter, but the former is always possible)

I am very strongly in favour of creator approval and control over artistic endeavours--even commercial ones. I am even willing to suffer individual disappointments (like the lack of a theatrical cut of Amadeus or a re-cropped aspect ratio on The Last Emperor, to name but two recent Blu-ray releases) as the price to pay for supporting creator control in an age where such a thing is rare. What I do NOT want to see is an "extended cut", NOT approved by the director, as the ONLY release available.

    Blu-Ray...woohoo!!

Digital Copy...lame as usual, especially when they count it as one of the discs.

$29.99 for the DVD/Blue Ray, Really?

I mean I liked ST:XI , is the DVD Realy worth 30 bucks. I don't think I've ever paid that much for any single movie. I would gladly pay 20-25 dollars , but 30, Realy? All i can say is it better have a lot of goodies.

Thats probably MSRP. When it comes out it'll probably be 20 bucks at places like best buy, and they'll probably have sales the first week where its even cheaper than that. I'd imagine the blu ray will be around 27

A place like Costco is undoubtedly way cheaper than that. $20 would be tops. And a lot of their movies are under that. You could do better at Barnes & Noble (bigger selection and good for ordering unusual titles--it's best when they have sales, but more expensive than Costco). Costco will always have all the new releases.

New movies are almost always about $20 except for in super high-end specialty shops (don't buy movies at high-end music stores--they charge like $30 for movies you can buy for half that). Old movies you can get for about $9, $12 or $15ish sometimes.

Or you can buy used movies at Blockbuster.

The one disk version will probably sell for about $15, the two disk set about $18-20 and the Blu-ray around $25.

    That's pretty standard pricing.

Yes. I will pay (if necessary) $29 for the Blu-ray of this movie.

Although according to trekmovie, it seems the MSRP breakdown is as follows:

    1-disk DVD — $29.99
    2-disk DVD — $39.99
    3-disk Blu-ray — $39.99

    That does seem high.

Sounds like standard pricing for a new Hollywood popular blockbuster on Blu-ray.

I wonder how much Paramount will charge for a special collectors edition around 2014?
Will you double dip for 'Star Trek XI' ?
Just buy the Blu-ray in 2009. It was mastered in 2K and HD is only a slight step down. This edition in November has the lossless 5.1 surround audio.
Odds are you will buy a Blu-ray player before 2014 and before an estimated time before a special collectors edition would be out anyway.
