What Did You Have For Dinner Last Night?

I had a single slice of left over pizza last night. Tonight I'm making the family spegehetti and meatballs for dinner! Should be a fun experience since I've never made it before. Spegehetti yes I've made but not homemade meatballs.

I was too embarrassed to say it, but I did the same thing (only it was turkey.)

I was home alone, as well, and didn't feel like going to all the trouble of actually "making" something for myself.

As I was putting it in the oven I was thinking about the thread a couple of weeks ago where we were all talking about foods we were ashamed we liked (or something to that effect.)

He looked at the food, reluctantly took a bite, made a face, declared that it "doesn't taste like anything" and then pushed the bowl away. Over a meal that I specifically tried to adapt for his tastes and worked on for more than an hour.

I'm making meatloaf this weekend, my version that he likes even more than what his mom makes. And then I'm going to eat it all myself. That's right, I might be petty, I might end up fat. But to me, cooking a meal for someone shows love and caring and you don't turn it away like that.

I was raised in a house where you couldn't pick and choose and where you had to eat what was on the table and you were to show gratitude for it. If he doesn't want my cooking, he can make frozen pizzas for himself.

You know, I actually asked the waitress (who recommended it) to wait while I tasted it because it sounded too bizarre, just in case it needed to be sent back on grounds on distasteful horribleness. Instead, she got a decent tip at the end of the meal for her good taste!

Had a good day at work (a nice bit of extra private business came my way while on call today) so had a slap-up Chinese meal with a friend. Feeling fat and happy now.
