Conventions...

And where to find them locally?

I remember when I was younger and TNG was still fresh on the TV and my VHS recorded as many minutes as it could I would go to them with my dad on occasion.

Where can find lists for local Star Trek and Sci-Fi conventions?

Everytime I do internet searches I just get the big one in LV.

There is the Trekfest next Friday and Saturday in Riverside Ia. It is over by Iowa City in eastern Iowa. Koenig, Nichols, and Takei are all supposed to be there. I don't remember hearing much about conventions in the last 10 years or so either. Omaha used to have some but I don't know if they do anymore.

Re: Conventions...

If what you're looking for are smaller, fan-run conventions, this looks promising:

Really? Do people still organize conventions?

I thought they stopped doing that back when TOS went off the air.

The second Osfest is coming up next month in Omaha.

There's been a couple, but really, the whole Trek thing died down by the end of the 70's.

Re: Conventions...

Well I sure wasn't around in the 70's, but I remember in the early 90's going to several. Somewhere bigger, got autographs from Sulu, McCoy and Scottie from TOS and Troi from TNG.

I don't care if there are not guest stars there, but I like to see what items are out there, still looking for models etc and am doing my best to avoid eBay. yuck

There were plenty of conventions in the 90s during the height of TNG.

Nana Visitor and Rene Auberjonois will be in Dallas, TX August 15-16, but that's for Dallas Comiccon. Seems like we rarely get Trek conventions in this part of the country. And the last supposed one in Dallas was a disaster.

That's when they started.
