That could have been part of it. Going out of your way for IMAx you sort of prepare yourself for something that is, at the very least, a visual treat. Or *more* of a visual treat than you'd get in a normal screen. This just didn't deliver.

But to be honest I don't think my opinion would be that different. It is what it is. I just wished I'd paid £9 to see it, instead of 15 quid (Richie busted me for petrol...)

Could be why I enjoyed it more... paid nothing, well £13.50 a month, and I've seen about 8 films this month, so next to nothing.

Hurrah for Cineworld...

Small point, but was anyone else surprised to see a bunch of British squaddies on the special forces team?
In these sorts of films Brits usually play the baddies and I've gotten so used to us being totally ignored in war films that this just really threw me.

i thought it was awesome. i did wonder though, why it was US/UK and no one else, but then i remembered, it's cuz we're so awesome the Americans didn't need anyone else.

Just saw this last night and I have to say that the film really has some great story ideas, but unfortunately they're undermined by a lot of out-of-place humor bits. After the lights came up, two of my friends said they enjoyed it, but they wish they had introduced the characters and I agree. The robots generally just appeared and did a scene and then did little cameos later. Only the "big players" such as The Fallen, Jetfire and Optimus really got good screen time. I think giving the robots a bit more identity would have helped the story immensely.

That said, visually this movie was amazing. Bay really knows what he's doing with battles and explosions. The sheer amount of military hardware should make any geek happy and the CGI on the robots was spectacular. Devastator was just an amazing sight to behold and Sideswipe is pure awesomeness. I was happy to see a lot more daylight interaction between the robots, giving us a much clearer look at them.

Overall I gave it an "Above Average" thanks to the stunning visuals and the core story, which I think does a good job of deepening the Transformers movie mythos.

Just saw it this afternoon.
Just boring really. No soul, no heart, no story, no point. Just felt like a remake of the first one
Shia shennagins, army guys shouting and firing guns a lot, planes whooping about, incredibly unfunny pratfalls, actors hamming it up, complete CGI mess, no clue what the hells going in the battle with who's fighting who or why I should care, it ending all of a sudden, Prime giving some final speech, ending with a Linkin Park song, etc

The whole part of Sam's mum accidentally taking drugs at college and doing some shit shtick... god I almost had to close my eyes, and thought about walking out. Just awful

Also when the films called Transformers, I'd like to see some Transformers please. What was the point of having these new Autobots like Arcee when they appear on screen for about 4 seconds? You might as well not even have the Autobots in the films at all, and just have it be soldiers vs Decepticons, because that's all it was

Overall it wasn't terrible, there were some good bits, but in the end I just didn't care really

It wasn't a great film by any stretch, and despite how irritating he was in the first film, John Turturro pretty much saved it, especially with his killer line I am now beneath the Decepticon scrotum.

Oh, and lots of shots of Megan Fox running in slow motion in front of a dark orange sunset pretty much kept me awake.

I enjoyed Star Trek an awful lot more. I think Bay needs to hand over the reins to another director as he seems fresh out of ideas. Many of the scenes were just rehashed from the first film.

Did anyone else noticed that they actually reused a couple shots from the first film? I haven't noticed a big budget film do that in a while.

The SAS no yes - I believe I saw the regimental badge there.

SAS are renowned worldwide as badasses, good for Michael Bay!!
