"Hangover" pulls "Up" back to No. 2 at box offices (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedy "The Hangover" edged ahead of Disney/Pixar's animated "Up" to claim the No. 1 spot at North American box offices last weekend with nearly $45 million when final figures were totaled on Monday.

"Up," the previous week's champ, slipped to No. 2 with $44.1 million, which is down slightly from its $44.2 million estimate on Sunday, while "The Hangover" increased its total to $44.9 million from Sunday's estimate of $43.3 million, according to Box Office and other box office watchers.

"Hangover" and "Up" traded the first and second places on box office charts, but the rest of the top five movies in North remained the same with only a few changes to ticket sales.

Will Ferrell comedy "Land of the Lost" retained the No. 3 slot with a disappointing final tally of $18.8 million, down from Sunday's estimated $19.5 million.

"Night at the Museum," was No. 4 and "Star Trek" was No. 5 with final weekend totals of $14.6 million and $8.3 million, respectively, slightly below their Sunday estimates of $14.7 million and $8.4 million.

"Hangover was released by Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc. "Up" was released by the movie studio wing of Walt Disney Co. "Land of the Lost" was distributed by Universal Pictures, part of the NBC Universal media wing of General Electric Co. "Night at the Museum" came from News Corp's 20th Century Fox, and "Star Trek" was released by Viacom Inc's Paramount Pictures.

Standard practice here is to post a snippet of an article, and a link for the rest. Plus, you do need to post more than just the article. Add some opinoin for yourself. Post a decent length question. Something of substance.

You have a couple of threads like this already, so I'm closing this one. If you want to discuss this, please feel free to send me a PM and we can go over it.
