Did anyone see any of the ladies wear a man's style uniform in the new movie? I didn't catch any, but there could have been.

There are definitely women with pants on (like when Kirk is running to find Uhura, you see them in the background), but I can't remember if they have the shorter sleeved tops.

I can confirm seeing women in both the red and the gold men style uniform with sleeves including rank insignia.

I saw female officers wearing a version of the male uniform as well, in addition to the miniskirt uniform.

Uhura just opted for the latter because she wanted to look hot.
I'll take that argument to be canon! If you got it, you should flaunt it.

I think Kirk needs a short-sleeve version :P Or maybe an uber deep V hehe.
I like what he's wearing in your ava

I think I did see women wearing pants. Jeri needs to confirm this in her 14th viewing (if she hasn't already)

There were women in this film? We did go last evening, so it will be probably midweek before I can notice the Enterprise uniforms.

I really liked the Kelvin uniforms. I just love that moment when Captain Robau is coming up the stairs on his way to the shuttle bay, when a female crewmember snaps to attention to the side of him. She was in pants.

(Right after that, another crew member runs across a gangway to snap to attention as Captain Robau passes, too. It was just awesome. I have a crush on Captain Robau anyway.)

the variety of uniforms is all about choice and not having to be stuck with the same one everyday. I work in an office and my daily outfit is usually a variation on what I wore the day before. Like an organization such as Starfleet uniformity in dress is neccessary to some degree but those extra degrees can make all the difference!

With -- as Tasha Yar says -- physical training unmatched anywhere, if the ladies were offered uniforms that would show it off, there's no reason they wouldn't love them. The miniskirts look very comfortable to me. I wore them in the 60's.

I like the variations of the uniform. Why don't men get any variations?? Men should be treated as much as sexual objects as women in my opinion. Equality for all! Sexual objectification for all!

For anyone who hasn't seen yet, there's some nice variation on Starfleet uniforms with Deanna Troi's uniform in the Titan Animated Series thread. It's très cool

A male variant where they're wearing extremely short bike shorts.

I did. I saw a female in a blue uniform. It was after Kirk had taken control of the ship. I was almost going to use it as an excuse to wear a man's style uni for Halloween until I realized I want to look at hot as possible for Halloween.

Even better- I'm going as the original Nurse Chapel as a tribute to Majel. I've got the dress ordered, the boots and I'm going to get the tricorder replica. All I'll need is the wig.

Oh that's so cool!! I was thinking about doing Uhura's outfit for Halloween.

Nurse Chapel will be awesome for you!

Wow, that does sound like fun! And it sounds like a great costume you're putting together, too. No wonder you're looking forward to it.
