Discovering the inner workings of all their characters and their respective backstories is one of the most rewarding aspects of the show. You'll grow to love them.

Yeah I know I will. I already like all of the characters. I am not sure why I was creeped out by Odo. I hear he is one of the most loved characters on DS9, so I think I'm just being n00b.

I have spent most of my time at the "Trek Literature" spot. Just watching DS9 for the first time. About halfway through Season 6. It did get better and better and S6 is very good so far. Just starting the novels too. Reading "Bloodletter" by K. W. Jeter (1993) which is ST-DS9 #3. The episodes do merit rewatching a number of times. I am using library copies of the DVDs. Not all that ST literate but do own TOS DVDs and have read between 150 and 200 ST novels (mostly TOS & TNG).

Just watched the first two DVDs for Season 7. Still great. Also, reading "The Big Game" by Sandy Schofield (this is a corporate pen name not for the Borg but for Dean Wesley Smith & Kristine Kathryn Rusch (DS9 #4, 1993). Wow!

Re: DS9 Forum Welcome Thread: Hello fellow Niners!

Been a Trekkie since I was born.. my parents raised me on weekly Sunday afterrnoon marathons of ToS before TNG was more available for purchase. Sadly, I was overseas when DS9 hit and it wasn't easy to catch routinely and didn't get the full experience until the release of the dvds 10 years ago. Quickly became my favourite Trek series and one of my top three series of all time. I just love the depth of characters and the "of the week" eppies that still fit into the overall arc of the series. Don't mind the serielisation much, though I prefer a looser theme holding a series together without a "to be continued" after each eppie

Still, when you are given Bashir, Quark, Nog, Odo, Garak, Martok, and Dukat all on the same show... yeah, can't go wrong with that.

DS9 is definitely my favorite Star Trek spinoff. I watched it from the beginning and liked it then, but I appreciated it even more as time went by.

Parts of it I don't like, of course. But overall, it's really well done.

Quark's my favorite. I think Armin Shimerman cared about his character, put a lot of thought into Quark and made him shine.

Have to admit DS9 is my fave, but all the series are good. Even Enterprise.

I'm a lifelong trekkie, and DS9 was, imo, the best of the series: it was the greatest fulfillment of Star Trek's potential.

DS9 is one of the best drama series ever to air. And it just happens that it is Star Trek and science fiction. I love DS9 and wish it were still airing in syndication.

I was not sure if I would like DS9. But I love it. I like the whole religion and war thing. I also ended up liking dukat except S7. I guess something is wrong with me.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say hello. I think, I have been on this forum before, but my e-mail-account decided to delete everything, so I don't know...

Anyway, I love DS9, I love the other series too, but DS9 is the one I find myself watching over and over again, so I suppose it's my favorite.

I'm about halfway through watching DS9, I grew up watching TNG but I'm really enjoying DS9. Odo is my favorite along with Jadzia Dax. I just love the backstories for all the characters. And glory be to netflix for having all of these episodes!
