Small Thought on episode "To The Death"

I rewatched the episode "To The Death". Good episode. One thought I had when the DS9 crew and the Jem'hadar attack the rebellious Jem'hadar, is that it was impossible to tell them apart. How would the starfleet crew know in the hand to hand combat which jem'hadar were on their side? It seems to me that the Jem'Hadar working with starfleet should have painted a color on their uniform or something to ID themselves as "friend", in order to avoid a friendly fire incident.

You can actually tell them apart quite easily...the rebel Jem'Hadar were nice enough to wear black vests over their usual outfits so that there wouldn't be any confusion.

You're right. The close combat scenes must have been so quick that I did not notice it.

But I still think that the Jem'Hadar with Sisko should have done something to differentiate themselves just to make sure, since you cannot assume the enemy will do it for you.

That would definitely be the logical thing to do. But it would also be "admitting defeat": the Jemmies with Sisko are the regular, faithful ones, with no fault to them, and stooping to defiling their uniforms with modifications just because these rebels have betrayed the Dominion would be the ultimate disgrace...

It might have been fun to see a fight where there indeed was no difference between good and bad guys. The only way to tell friend from foe is that he isn't trying to kill you! (And since both friend and foe are capable of invisibility, too, there really shouldn't be any time or opportunity for IFF there - our heroes would just have to fight for their lives and trust they were doing more good than evil to their cause.)

A better question, I think, is how were the rogue JH supplying themselves with white?

^ Maybe they killed their Vorta supervisors and stole the supplies of white that said Vorta were responsible for.
