Good theory. Just like the heavy air traffic over Coruscant in EPISODE I helped hide where Lucas and ILM slipped in the Enterprise for her cameo.
Any screenshots? I never heard of that and I don't have TPM on DVD.

The debris field would be the most logical choice as the FX department was ILM.
I don't have a ready screenshot on hand, but after Padme adresses the Senate and decided to return to Naboo with the Jedi and Anakin they all go to a nighttime landing platform to board her silver royal starship. The Enterprise zooms by below in the traffic of the city.

I suppose this works, after all they obviously still had the Beastie Boys etc.. it's kind of weird though as it would mean my other universe is a fictional story in this universe........
Actually, the new crew of the Enterprise is more like the Backstreet Boys than Beasty Boys, but YMMV.....

"Backstreet's back.....Alright!"

I'm surprised Nokia is still around in the post-WWIII/First Contact new world economy with no money. Maybe they offer consumer technology for free or in exchange for services.

I've never paid for a freaking cellphone today, I don't see why they would in the future. But you should see what they do to you if if try cancelling your service...

It could also be that the Noia phone is part of the decoration of the Corvette, and is either an Antique, or meant to match the 20th/21st Century period of the Corvette.

A possibility I never thought of, and actually kind of logical if you consider the whole retro thing. Maybe by the 2240s old antique cars are equipped with this kind of equipment.

It could also be that Kirk's stepfather's last name was Nokia, Bob Nokia, so the phone just said who was calling

His dad was fortunate to get killed, then.

But wouldn't that be like having a cassette deck in a model T

Maybe. But some people and collectors have weird tastes. I've seen a CD deck in an AMC Pacer.
