I had a pretty good look at this thread yesterday (although a lot of the tech speak is way above my head). This project is so cool!

We have the arboretum, gym, shuttle bay, cargo bay, main and impulse engineering, Rec-deck, transporter rooms, officer's lounge, galley/mess, sick bay, auxillary control, turbolifts, jeffries tubes, bridge, torpedeo room, airlocks, emergency bridge, emergency sick bay, and crew quarters.

Does anybody have any thoughts on what else that needs to be allocated? I can think of the computer room, auxillery computer room, computer core, back up computer core, communications, sensor analysis, astrometrics (although I suppose the latter two could be in two of the labs?), fresh water supply, and toilets. Anything else? Are there separate power control stations for shields and weapons located near the systems themselves?

It might be interesting to speculate on what the labs might be used for too. I noticed on the 430 crew thread that Enterprise has 14 labs. Perhaps we can postulate for what purpose they might be allocated? All I can think of is: Physics (x3), Botany, Astrobiology, Geology, Archaeology/Paleobiology, Zoology, Chemistry, & Medical Research. Any other suggestions?

Found these references on Memory Alpha - electromagnetic would be part of physics, biopsy would be part of medical, biochemistry could conceivably have it's own lab or might be part of astriobiology, electronics makes sense, although nuclear electronics is a bit too specific:

Should be stairs, and ladder areas, the more than half a dozen air lock hatches on the Saucer top side, Thruster clusters that are internal.

I'm always thinking utilities, like the Water reclamation and Sewage transport, Food Storage, The main Batteries should have a central location as well as cluster in each section of the ship..

The hatches near the rim are air lock hatches. The numerous inner hatches are, according to Andy Probert, lifeboat hatches. There were also supposed to be lifeboat hatches on the secondary hull but he neglected to put those on.

Well I've finished trawling through the plans of the ship using Strategic's plans as a decent guide. I somehow managed to end up with the right number of crew, although most of them might end up being engineering technicians and I still think my science teams need a bit of work. I did notice that there doesn't appear to be any areas set aside for the executive branch (no personnel offices, records office, or legal office), I can't work out where the Quartermaster's Office should be, and I bunged the Operations Officer in the Power Distribution Room, because that's where he could carry out functions similar to Ops in TNG, but it doesn't feel quite right to have him way down in the bowels of the ship. I stuck with 3 8-hour shifts and proceeded on the assumption that the labs wouldn't ordinarily be running 24-7. Damage Control crews are manned on a rota so off duty personnel move to designated assembly areas to form thier teams when General Quarters is sounded. Similarly, it seems to me that you only need one functional manned transporter in each hull ordinarily. Additional chiefs would head to other units when General Quarters sounds.
