Yeah, Tom has quite the messed up past and I've heard he caused quite a few problems for several directors and actors. He's sort of the Shatner of the Doctor Who world, kind of a massive ego, although that's kind of cooled in recent years.

About a decade ago I read his autobiography. He is an interesting fellow to say the least.

Tom could be extremely unpleasant on the set of DW. On a documentary on one of the DVDs (I think it's Logopolis or Castrovalva), you can actually see behind-the-scenes footage of him mouthing off to people on the set, and just generally being an obnoxious, inconsiderate pain in the @$$. He's a very fine actor, but not a very nice person unfortunately.

Yikes! How have the last 15 years treated him?

At least he has a sense of humor about himself--I liked the line about women wanting to whip and cane him because of his acting.

The good thing is that in recent years Tom's admitted that he behaved at times quite badly on set - I seem to recall him being quite frank about it on one of the Keeper Of Traken/Logopolis/Castrovalva DVDs.

I laughed out loud at the part when he worked in the veterans hospital.
